My first game on PC

It was a ranked placement, my rank was the only thing I lost when switching all my cosmetics and stuff were still there.

It was bronze and there was a Cassidy in my team who looked better than any I’ve ever faced on console (I’m plat there), an illari who didn’t miss much, got rocked by more junker grenades in one match than had ever hit hit me on console and actually had to watch what was doing everything just seemed so accurate.

The pace was slower but felt way more tactical and less chaotic, larger FOV and much cleaner graphics and overall a great experience.

Also won with a 10 elim streak and a 15 elim streak threw in but I’m Moira with a controller so make of that what you will, overall I’m glad to be there.

I quit playing on PC because everything but the graphics felt like a downgrade. Playing an FPS with MnK, especially this one where there are so many non-gun heroes, feels so sterile and stilted. General match quality feels much stronger to me on console. Also don’t have to deal with cheaters and streamers.

Skill-wise, I had the opposite experience from you. I started a PC account after spending several seasons in GM on console. I got called a smurf in most matches and a liar when I said I was just a console player. I was not immediately impressed by anyone.

Well your a GM it would be hard for bronze anyone to impress you id imagine, but saying it’s easier did you hit GM on PC too?

Playing any FPS without MnK feels trashy. I am sorry, but every time I watch OW on console, it feels like I watch everything in slow motion. Boy is it slow! Console is great for many games, but FPS in general and OW specifically is not one of them.

That’s what it looked like to me, watching my Cassidy when dead he was just snapping onto everything and I’m sitting there thinking wow that looks responsive for a bronze player.

I didn’t play long enough to grind competitive. I mostly couldn’t stand MnK or cheaters.

I played a ton of FPS on PC in days before online console play was a thing. Lots of CS, Red Faction, TF2, pre-MW CoD. It wasn’t as big a deal for those games since they’re mostly all just about shooting, but I think this game works much better on controller. It feels more deliberate to me, not slower. Also, movement is way more important in this game than in a traditional FPS, so walking on stilits with a keyboard felt terrible to me.

Only been a day and loving it already, just tried warzone and everything looked so sharp and clear, there are a lot of dark areas on console which we’re clear as day to see on PC, next up to try will be dark souls remastered, or maybe even try mods for the first time on something, ESO maybe or fallout, so much to do!

The one thing I’m really struggling with is graphics settings, so many names for things I don’t understand so just tinkering and hoping for the best.

Like the regular update/driver issues, spending hours messing with .cfg files and then picking up some malware with dodgy mods whilst regular bumping into people using cheat software. Fun times.

If I want an easy life my console is still here, just at my older age been feeling like console hasn’t been fulfilling enough for a while, boring even.

Oh if you’re not burnt out on all that and have the time, go for it!

Try Linux whilst you’re at it, highly recommended. Start with a popular disto that’s friendly to new users.

How? I play on PS5 occasionally and console OW feels like it’s slowed down. When I switch back to PC I need a couple of games to get used to it because everything happens so fast.

Could be the higher FOV, felt clustered on Xbox when the action started but felt calm here.

Bronze PC matches will be orders of magnitude slower than Platium console, especially in regions outside of the US.

Also might be confusing turn/aim speed with match pace or aim assisted tracking.

Whatever it is can tell it’s just better, it’s like I’m finally playing on the platform it’s meant to be played on.

I mean tbf, I would think you are a liar

the only thing that transfers from console in skill is gamesense, so I can kinda see how a gm console could be good on pc? but pc is just so wildly different. If you had played cod AND were gm on console, thats different, cause you know how to shoot on pc.

Game updates are no different on PC or console, and drivers don’t need to be updated regularly. I’ll regularly go 3 to 6 months without touching them or Windows updates.

This hasn’t been a thing for over a decade, and never took more than a couple of minutes

That’s entirely user error

Nowhere near as prevalent as some people make it out to be.

All of your points are just the usual clueless garbage that console fanboys spout when trying to defend their overpriced plastic boxes and their closed anti-consumer ecosystems.

Imagine being that angry and disingenuous. Are you really going to take that tone and stance whilst likely using Windows, Intel and nVidia at the very least? Not to mention within the past couple of hours the Overwatch devs just announced the banning 500,000 cheater accounts.

No anger here friend, just facts

Not sure what my actual system has to do with it, but Windows, AMD and Nvidia, yes.

500,000 since 2016… Reading comprehension isn’t your strongest skill is it?

Stop blindly regurgitating Gamerant articles, you’re only making yourself look dumb.

Ironic as I never claimed the bans were done in a wave or total or anything at all. Merely just that hours ago there was an announcement of 500,000 accounts banned.

Stop derailing the thread and try to do better. Perhaps a starting point would be that reading comprehension thing or asking yourself what a double standard is or why someone would mention “your system” within the context of closed and anti-consumer? Whatever the case I’m taking no further part in your nonsense. HF GL friend.
