My conclusion on doom

Multiple hours on doom in ow2 against a variety of comps and I can safely say ow1 doomfist is more fun to play and his kit feels a lot more fluid/higherskill ceiling with tech.
I don’t speak for every doom main but I’ve got 500 ish hours on the hero and I really do think ow1 doom has a better hero design and more fluid and fun gameplay.
Sad times tbh but oh well what can be done.

Tbh, i’ve always thought he had a far too high a skill-ceiling, wich wasnt even that viable to begin with, gimping that part and making it a far more accessible kit, wich is easier to balance does better for him/the game in the long run.

Tho, its still not quite there imo, while i think they are in the right track with the changes, his numbers can get some more reviewing + his block ability is far too easily counterable by CC / awareness, for it to have that many downsides, namely high cooldown and way too reduced movement speed.

Overall I like the new tank doom but the block feels wrong at least.
Maybe I just have to do it better but when you do get the blue empowered fist out of the block which is hard to do you get deleted from focus fire you were blocking or you need to use it to escape.

that is if you don’t get CCed out of it ofcourse

Exactly, i dont think the problem is you tho, it just really is too much a sitting duck for CC, or rather not even just that, having your mobility that gimped just means u cant even use it to gain any ground/escape even if just a little bit

its not like people cant just ignore you while your blocking since you are literally doing nothing at the moment and its also just buff to your next cooldown,

overrall, it either needs to not gimp your movement speed at all + last a bit more or just block all frontal CC but have a longer cooldown/less duration/both less duration+longer cooldown.

His changes are the laziest of all they did. Iam not a doom main but i can tell his original hero design got completely crushed.

New doom is garbage, a flying dps with 700 Hp and 0 utility for his team

You just need that enhanced punch that still does less damage than his OG rocket punch. That makes all the difference. One punch is all I need (to knock out intoxicated teenagers). He is true to his mantra.

Fluid is such a bad term in a way depending upon what aspect you want of focus on. Genji feels fluid because you can swift strike, into wall climb jump, into double jump, and ledge grab. All in different combinations with consistent behavior.

Doomfist OW1 is like you uppercut and bounce off terrain in weird ways. You rocket punch and bounce off terrain or come to a screeching halt at random times depending upon angle. You use slam and end up gliding off terrain. Or trying to move in very restrictive motions like needing to uppercut striaght up in order to slam straight down while on the ground your slam bunny hops you a fixed a distance you can’t control for air distance.

Doomfist is anything but fluid to me when I look at him compared to Winston’s leap where you have consistent bounce off terrain or incredibly flexible arcs to make. Doing all of it from a single move not needing to use multiple moves to orchestrate a weird trajectory of straight lines.

The only good thing about tankfist is the mobility, everything else is just mediocre

I loved the original doomfist, so much mobility and different ways to combo/escape. New doomfist looks like a joke to me i tried him out and im like what is this. even if they buffed his hp and nerfed his dmg and made him a tank i would still play him but taking away his original E is a deal breaker for me.

i was saying he looked awful as soon as they showed his rework. they gutted his identity to please people who hated his kit and made him knock off winston with a less effective zarya bubble.

Neither is Zarya hog orisa dva yet they all have massive damage and ways to survive massive damage.

As a Doomfist main, I love the idea of Tank Doomfist, I always felt that’s where he’d fit best.

BUT the implementation they have right now is just awful.

He does laughable damage, his one tanking ability is easily disrupted and ignorable, and his Ultimate is leaps and bounds below every other Tank ultimate in the game. IMO this is what they need to do to make him actually fun and threatening to play against:

Hand Cannon: Unchanged
Seismic Slam: Has damage fall-off the farther it travels, close up it will deal 70 and farther back it will deal ~30 or 40 damage.
Power Block: REMOVED
Rising Uppercut: Brought back, damage reduced from 50 > 30. Pre-nerf trajectory brought back.
Rocket Punch: Damage increased. Impact damage increased from 15-30 to 25-40. Wall impact damage increased from 20-40 to 40-60. Still can overcharge, but it’s based on how many shields you have created for yourself, you’ll have a meter that stays on your screen similar to Orisa’s overheat mechanic or DVa’s DM that will fill up as you generate shields. Doesn’t increase damage, but still increases travel distance and the size of Rocket Punch.
