how can i get rid of this bad habit? i was watching my replays and noticed i always shoot before i aim. thats why i miss a lot. i can line up my crosshair on enemy with no problem.
Slow down your aim and only click when you know you’re on the target. This really helped me.
Do some Kovaaks, seriously
Overwatch hitboxes are weird so aim trainers in game would be better.
Not as weird as you think, a lot of scenarios you will see have a lot of the same mechanics involved.
For example, when you click, you may be clicking too late. Because by the time your target is in the crosshair, and you click, they’ve already moved past it. So you need to get good at reading where the target is heading, and aim slightly ahead so by the time the shot registers it’s dead on.
You also need to consider your own movement, you may a shot lined up then press A or D at the wrong time and throw yourself off. Those kind of habits are hard to correct in Overwatch because a lot of the Aim Trainers are too erratic with bot movement, or have so much going on it’s hard to focus on one key aspect.
Yeah i also mess up my shots with ad spam.
The problem I have with kovaaks though is that it promotes standing still. That’s why I prefer in game aim trainers.
Look up Dodge scenarios, when the bar is green you shoot, if it fills up you earn less points. Those scenarios will help out a lot, some of them are already there for Ashe and the Viper.
Wait, there are movement scenarios? Ima take a look at this.
This is called undershooting. If you have lowered your sens it happens a lot, where your arm thinks you have naturally reached the person but your sens is much slower. You need to also train your movement aim, as strafing is incredibly strong
Play a warm-up game where you only shoot when you know you’ll hit them.
You’ll shoot alot less, but it’s a great way to get yourself in the habit.
In order to get faster, you have to start slow.
When you rush your shots, itll actually take longer to kill someone because you’re spending more time missing than you would spend by just taking your time.
You can move in the scenarios and I use this
About this routine
The Overwatch routine below is effective practice, because it includes scenarios that are very closely related to in-game situations, such as Popcorn GTI where you need to track a target precisely and accurately so you can maximize your damage output. Ground Plaza Sparky v3 OW also adds an important element like smooth and fast tracking with fast reacting to blinks and instant acceleration movement changes. This applies to heroes like Soldier and Tracer Smoothness is always useful and helps you use the right amount of tension so it’s easier to be precise. Both Plaza High and Low ground are optional, but can be useful if you struggle when you’re angled at a disadvantage or advantage. The hybrid scenario Air no ufo no skybots Click should help you focus on reading a target and constantly reacting to its direction changes, while timing your clicks consecutively on the target in order to eliminate it (McCree, Ashe, Ana etc.). Basic types of switching scenarios should still be useful for Overwatch as well, because you learn to read targets, acquire them and switch quickly then eliminate them efficiently. The clicking scenarios should apply to all the click-type heroes such as Widowmaker, McCree, Ashe, Anna and even Reaper & Roadhog. All the movement type scenarios are useful so you can learn to take advantage of your movement to line up your shots better.

These game modes should provide decent aim practice outside matchmaking. Tryhard FFA puts you in a situation with all the in-game angles. Aim Arena is constant shooting and the Custom Aim maps offer KovaaK-esque scenarios to practice on all the different aiming styles.

There are a few decent custom maps made for aim training inside Overwatch
then just don’t shoot before you’ve lined up your crosshair???
I don’t know what you’re looking for here buddy.
I usually just do the sparky fundamentals routines .
stop clicking so early, i hope this was helpful
Why am I not surprised to see you here, jotaro?
Play projectile heroes
I mean op said that he was under shooting, projectiles require you to overshoot.
He said he clicks too early and projectiles can compensate for that. he should still aim ahead of time thought but that has nothing to do with pulling the trigger early but just aiming (which is what he is claiming to be good at).
Aim: PRECISION, speed, reaction.
Clicking early means part of bad aim.
