I’m not saying that criticism is bad.
As I said, the game has problems.
But, have you seen how people convey that criticism?
Straight up insulting the devs, demanding changes, implying that the devs lied to them, implying that they don’t care, and crying for buffs for characters that simply do not need them, just because they main them.
That’s now how you improve the game. That’s how you make the devs not bother reading the forums.
Every day they come in, and instead of seeing useful threads with actual criticism, like the old Sombra thread that listed and showed all her bugs, they just see “Blizz wtf are you doing, the game is gonna die”, “Jeff lied to us”, “ReVeRt MeRcY”.
I try to bump and support threads that show actual problems that the game has.
I agree with “Change shadowstep”, “Improve Bastion”, “Fix Doomfist”, “Fix Rein” threads, especially if they have some good ideas and evidence that something is broken.
Crying because an OP hero got nerfed is not what’s gonna keep the game alive.
And trust me, I’m almost 1k hours in. I care about the game a lot.

This is true.
People seem to be very immature. There are nice ways to give critics and lots of people use them, those are worth listening to.
Some are mean and insulting, those are just childish and everyone should see them as such👌
(Good to see you man)

Too bad General Discussion is always littered with such threads. And these are the ones that get 200 posts in an hour, just bumping them higher and higher.
Nice to see you too.
(You really don’t want to get above 2999 Jester, do you lol)

Insulting the developers is not okay, I am probably guilty of it myself out of frustration; however, it is much better to avoid that. However, they have absolutely lied to us on multiple occasions.
Crying for buffs for characters that do not need them also applies to nerfs. The reason is less to do with unreliable feedback. You just have to look at where it is coming from and have to understand that balance is subjective. Someone in silver is going to have a different idea than someone in diamond. A platinum tank main will have different opinions than a platinum dps main or even a diamond tank main. There are so many variables and that is a great thing that the developers SHOULD pay attention to. One discrepancy I have noticed is Winston, who was nerfed because of Twinston and never really brought back up because of dive and he is more or less not viable outside of that context and they believe he is fine as I am sure most of the community probably does because he was top tier for a long time and powerful in dive. That being said, there is a way to make him stronger in general and weaker in dive, they are just not interested and if I wanted to provide that feedback it would normally be a waste of time. Since they were transparent, I can just save the effort.
It is really in their best interest to read it regardless of a few bad apples, or in my opinion, merely frustrated players. If anything reading it and showing that you read it would go a LONG way into dispelling a lot of sentiments, especially the one where they do not care.
Nah. There are plenty of useful threads. I understand it is saturated with topics that are not constructive. That is no reason to punish the community as a whole. If they genuinely cared about the game, they would do what any reasonable developer would and focus on the positive and constructive threads to improve the game.
Again, the issue is subjective. Personally, I do not feel fixing the bugs of 3 heroes and buffing Bastion will bring this game all of the positivity it once had. At this point, it needs something a bit more sweeping.
Of course not. But that is not really what I was addressing. I do not believe this OP was talking about it either.
I do. I even alluded to it in my post. Most of the people who are “anti-complaining” or “let Blizzard do Blizzard” do care about the game in their own way. My only point was that the people complaining care as well, in a different way, and it is not as simple as being bored with the game.
I think a lot of people make the mistake of wanting to stick with the game all the time. There’s plenty of other stuff to play out there dude, take a break, and only play OW when you actually feel like it, don’t force yourself to do it when you’re not having fun.
