Now, I know PC players will be stubborn about denying that PC has any minor downside, but the fact is: moving with WASD feels awful and limiting compared to moving with a thumbstick. Can’t even put it in words how terrible moving with WASD feels. A PC player must feel the same thing when they try to aim with a controller, I dunno.
Movement with thumbstick is so much more nuanced and intuitive. The more I play on PC, the more I miss it, though aiming with a mouse is certainly the biggest benefit here.
Maybe someday they can fabricate a keyboard with a thumbstick attached to it. I don’t even know if something like this exists or not. Personally, I think moving with a thumbstick using my left hand and aiming with a mouse (right hand) would be the closest to the ideal experience.

There are a few handheld gaming keyboards that do have a thumbstick attached. You could also look into the Steam Controller, better than normal Xinput, but only slightly worse than mouse on aiming due to gyroscope and trackpad.
You can plug in a controller and use it with your left hand while you use the mouse with the right hand.
I used to do this
There is also the tartarus

The tartarus does not have a true joystick, but it comes close

The hate I’ve seen for console users on PC is mind boggling.

You’re just not used to it.

I’d say the only glaring frustrations with PC controls are crouch (ctrl) and melee (F or V) for their default locations which usually always just get rebound.

WSAD is just as good as a thumbstick. You can use each key for one direction, or combine keys to go diagonally. What really smooths everything out is having a mouse

huh? it’s a matter of getting used to it, I haven’t touched a controller in forever and honestly moving with a thumbstick feels awful to me
There used to be something called a Joystick before lol which might be what you’re looking for
Now that I think about it, VR controllers do have that kind of thing, a stick with buttons and a thumbstick, it’d be interesting to have one controller like that on one hand and a mouse on the other, kind of like two mice lol

What I hate about WASD is that you have 3 fingers for 4 directions of movement. It’s also not as good as a thumbstick in every way since you can change how fast you move with a thumbstick
That’s why I use ASDF with four fingers.

Highly disagree. I play consoles and PC extensively, and play most games on PC with a controller. WASD allow for far better strafing/ sudden direction changes, which is absolutely paramount for a FPS based game.

PC is the master gaming race…not sure why you’re hating on us just because we’re better

You are locked in at one speed, and only 8 directions that way though. Thumbstick has full 360 degree movement, and variable speed on games designed with them in mind.

Just plug a controller in and use it for movement and the mouse to aim.
This really didn’t need a forum post lol

wsad is so last century…
edsf is where its at, you get more easy keybinds if the game requires it… overwatch is basic so it doesnt, but other deeper games do

Are you going to try hybrid controls? I had a lot of fun with them for awhile.
It is quite interesting to use a controller in one hand and a mouse in the other lol
They hate us 'cause they aint us

Controllers are infinitely better for movement than M+K. You also get the freedom to aim where you want while moving. With M+K, there are certain angles you can’t move at unless you compromise that, which isn’t an option in a fight sometimes. It results in really predictable and limited movement for PC players compared to console. That said, it is generally easier to aim with a mouse than a controller but I don’t think it’s worth it.
They have neat thumbstick/button combo things you can use in your left hand while using the mouse in your right for the best of both worlds. Try it out.
