My computer is running out of space, and I was thinking about purchasing an external hard drive. Is there a possibility to move Overwatch, or altogether the Blizzard App, over to that external hard drive?
Yes, it’s EXTREMELY easy. From what I did was move the game’s directory to another directory install folder, which you can do in the options. It’s a tiny gear on the game client.
However, this game will NOT play good on an external hard drive. USB 3.0 is NOWHERE nearly as fast as SATA directly off of your board. I’d instead invest in a SANdisk SSD and install it into your computer instead. Your character actions WILL be slower, and your load times very long if you run Overwatch off an external drive. If you have the money you could buy an Intel SSD. Those are reliable and they take the most amount of abuse out of any SSD i’ve ever used (constant read/write).
Sandisks are CHEEP, affordable and so far I have not been able to get my Sandisk SSD to crash on me. INFACT, they do MUCH better than the Kingston NOW - SSD. I’ve had 3 kingston SSD’s give-out on me in 2 months time frame. They would not become recognizable to the computer and lose everything on them.
Dasaries is correct, I have seen many reported issues in the Tech Support forum about players encountering crashes and errors when the Program Software is installed on an external hard drive.
