First and foremost, do what you like. It’s all in fun. No one is gonna stop you and your opinions matter
However, I can’t be the only one who feels like they are kind of Cringey to see? Like, the kind of cringe you feel seeing a fedora tipping m’lady nice guy post.
You should have seen forums for games back in 1999. If the etiquette for forum signatures was anything like back when it used to be here is what mine would look like:
I am the ONE AND ONLY WyomingMyst! (^^)v
READ MY JUNKENSTEIN’S ENDLESS GUIDE!!
I AM ON THE REVERT MERCY MOVEMENT!!
(Note this last line would be in pink text color too because most older forum platforms allowed text color)
Yeah, thankfully that is why there is no direct forum signature feature on this platform and technically the rules discourage such behavior.
Disclaimer: The line about “Revert Mercy” is just a joke, and I have no perference to the balance of Mercy.
It’s definitely a little cringey in my opinion, but it’s a very low level cringe. Nowhere near fedora tipping or saying “you too” to your waiter when they say “enjoy your meal”.
ive been on forums since i was like a little 7 year old and signatures (aka “siggys”) have been on almost every one ive been on. im surprised more people dont do it here, if they allowed everyone to post images i guarantee people would have signature graphic shops and stuff lmao
The word “cringe” is just a buzzword at this point. Anything can be “cringy” depending on if the person likes it or not. I don’t find it cringy, I think it’s nice people are having fun with something so harmless.
It’s just a cult/spam thing. I’ve seen the exact “movements” you mention nuke threads by false reporting a thread, then spamming the thread like it’s a mobile conversation so that it’s seen as spam when looked into. Ignore them and report as needed.
Uhm… Gonna have to disagree here. The three I know of say that they aim to create a positive environment on the forums! Doubt the intention is just to spread some sort of cult agenda and spam the forums.
I don’t think it’s a reportable offence if my memory is correct.
The original Brigitte one was kind of cringe; however, I honestly enjoy the Mercy Ice Cream movement. Maybe it is just because ice cream is better than spaghetti, maybe it is because I actually saw them more or less dispel toxicity for real, but I am cool with it. The parody movements are just taking the meme to the next level. So they are not inherently cringe, per se. In other words, I suppose the concept made me cringe at first, but now that I am used to it, it is whatever. I do not really care too much. It would hardly be noticeable if they had a real signature function.
