My mouse (Razer Deathadder elite) keeps disconnecting, when I am in a game. This only happens in Overwatch for some reason and it is extremely annoying as it disconnects at the worst times. It usually reconnects 1 or 2 seconds later. Does anyone have a solution? I read some other post about this but it didn’t seem to have a solution. Pls help.
Hey Nightingale,
These issues can happen for a different reasons. Have you tried testing this while no other programs running? Does this happen with any other mice?
I have tested this with no other program running but it didn’t work and I also don’t have another mouse to test it with.
Yeah I just did, but it didn’t help. The mouse disconnects for longer periods of time now.
Have you tried other USB ports? Like front vs back ones on your computer?
This is usually caused by the mouse disconnecting and not restarting fast enough (can be a faulty cable) or a USB port issue – whether it’s a physical issue or Windows sleeping it is hard to tell without physically looking at it.
Yeah, I have tried all the USB Ports, front and back.
Hey there,
Could you post a DxDiag on pastebin and drop us a link? I’d like to check for Windows Error Reporting that may shed some light on the issue. Example: pastebin*com/abc123g
Might also be worth a shot to reinstall Razer software to ensure the device is using updated firmware/software.
Thanks for working with us on this one. Let us know if you have any questions.
I did reinstall Razer Snynapse, but it’s still disconnecting. I have posted my DxDiag on pastebin and I can’t post the link to the DxDiag. Thanks for helping. Edit: pastebin*com/83n9SxDM
Hey Nightingale,
It looks like a big chunk of the DxDiag is missing, so you may need to upload it again. I would also suggest updating Windows to the latest version.
I have just updated my windows to the latest version and I did the DxDiag again. The Link is: pastebin*com/4Hg51Z1p Also now, whenever my mouse disconnects, and reconnects a cursor appears at the center of my screen.
Hey again,
I’m seeing a lot of Kernel 144 errors which is a USB driver error. Since you already updated the drivers for the mouse itself using the Razer software, you’d next want to focus on the Motherboard driers.
Since this is a custom PC the motherboard model is not listed in the DxDiag for me to provide more direct information on. Though basically what you’d do is contact the motherboard company for information on drivers and related software. In this case we’re looking specifically for USB drivers.
If the motherboard company is unable to assist you with updating the drivers it might be best to contact a local PC technician who can help. Let them know of the driver errors we mentioned.
I updated the drivers for my motherboard which is an Asrock b450 pro4 Motherboard. The problem still persists :(.
This is a video of the same thing happening to me

Hey again,
If reinstalling drivers is not resolving the issue, then it would instead be related to either the windows operating system failing or device hardware.
I have seen case where too many USB devices were plugged in and there wasn’t enough power, so some of them weren’t able to function properly. If you have tons of USB try unplugging everything but mouse/keyboard.
Beyond that it might be worth trying a different mouse, or speaking with a local PC technician who can test the hardware and repair the operating system. The root issue here is a communication issue between windows and the USB component. This is indicated both by the Windows error reporting and the fancy audio the system will play when it re-establishes communication with the hardware.
The only usb devices I have plugged into my computer is my mouse and keyboard.
The part I don’t understand is why the mouse only disconnects when I’m playing csgo or overwatch, the mouse works with every other game I play. Thanks for helping.
Nightingale,
Kaldraydis gave you just about everything we can recommend here. As for why it’s happening in just two games, I’d wager those games may be using your hardware differently. They could be drawing more power, or using more CPU which could result in a CPU overheat if your processor’s fans are having a problem. That’s another possible cause of a mouse DC, though the fix is usually taking the PC to a technician to find out why your USB ports are using power.
Ultimately, my other suggestions would be this:
- Try different USB ports - especially if the PC has ports on the opposite side to test.
- Test a different mouse. If that works, it’s probably the mouse itself that’s dying.
Yeah, I got a new mouse and the disconnect problem went away, thanks for helping out.
