Mouse and keyboard support on console

I’d love to get an update from the devs about this. Even if it’s just to tell us that it’s not possible or that there are some difficulties with implementation and they’re working on it…

I´m waiting for this for years, it would literally improve the game so hard for me. On the second beta, some console players were able to plug it and use it if they grouped up with a pc friend

maybe it is in the works

I would love this.

Just switch to PC brotha.

Its already in the game, its called a xim or whatever other BS cheaters want to use. Adding full mouse and keyboard support will kill overwatch on console, straight up.

Nah. Console already suffers enough, I don’t need console players doing the same thing pc players do.

Pc player here, 100% support this…

Both playstation and xbox consoles have supported pc input devices for several generations now, so the only thing preventing this is the the game client…

Remove aim assist, give console players the option to use pc input devices…

Suddenly xims no longer would be a problem

Unfortunately this is unlikely to ever happen as the console players who insist on using a controller would throw temper tantrums, over it, claiming is unfair to them because they make the choice to use a controller.

They still would be a problem because a xim allows you to use aim assist with a mouse and keyboard

I fail to see a need to play MAK on console for a FREE game that isnt very graphic demanding. Unless you just dont have a computer to play on. There are some online hardware options that are pricey that let you configure you axis manually so you can use MAK on Xbox.

No because there would no longer be a need for aim assist, and Would be removed when support is added…

Its actually the most logical solution, since blizzard cannot proove someone is or is not using a xim…

Which means, enforcing prohibition is impossible, as blizzard either is forced to rely on player reports for it, meaning innocent people would get punished accidentally or by people making false reports… or they are not actually enforcing it…

No you don’t understand, aim assist is needed for controllers a xim tricks the console into thinking a mouse and keyboard is a controller similar to xinput for pc (where it tricks your pc into thinking that a controller is an Xbox controller no matter what type of controller it is)

What your suggesting wouldn’t work as the majority of console players will still use a pad because that is most comfortable for them which means they can’t just up and remove aim assist.

The only way XIM’s can be stopped is on the hardware side, Sony and Microsoft need to find a way to prevent xim usage physically.

I know exactly what a xim is and how they function…

Weather a player is using a xim or a controller, doesnt matter because either way all blizzard sees is controller inputs.

Its impossible for blizzard to detect whos using them… which means, either they are not actually enforcing prohibition of their use or they’re relying on player reports to enforce it which makes it very easy for innocent players to get banned falsely.

Adding keyboard and mouse support and removing aim assist is the only solution. As it removes all incentive

I’m begging you to plug in a pad to a PC and try to compete with MnK users without aim assist. Even those who choose to play without aim assist are disadvantaged against MnK players.

You may have a point if gyro controls become more widely accepted but there is even less chance of that than there is of aim assist being removed.

Its a choice they make

I’m a pc player (well I play both now, pc more often)

Xim usage is not really blizzards responsibility it is down to the console manufacturers to prevent their use.

I would love this, but only if it separates users on all systems by input. Anybody using a kbm should be put into kbm lobbies. Anyone using a controller should be put in controller lobbies

Except both playstation and xbox hardware and operating systems support keyboards and mice already… the only reason overwatch doesnt is because the overwatch client prevents it… so it is blizzards problem, as their software is whats creating the incentive for their use

Switch might too, but no one going to try to play this on that weak hardware (comparatively speaking)

That’s why input based matchmaker was introduced.

Thats a potential solution, however, it would likely result in very small pools for matchmaking to pull from for controller players

And we all know, blizzard prefers terribad matchmaking over 3 minute queue times
