Moth meta or Goats

Okay this is just a question cause I was curious on what people would rather want to play (and watch in OWL)

Moth meta with the first rendition of 2.0 Mercy with insta rez, reset on rez during valk, ect.

Or

Goats at its prime

The kicker is that outside of Mercy and the goats characters, every other hero is up to date on balances

This isn’t some argument, I’m just curious

Also on a side note a moth skin for mercy would be insanely cool

GOATS.

Because if it’s Mercy 2.0 with up to date Snipers, then the Moth meta would be Double Sniper again and Double Sniper is by far the worst meta to have ever existed.

Moth meta created a lot of different variations for comps. All you needed was a Mercy and go. GOATS on the other hand is the same 6 heroes most of the time. Then again I may be a bit biased.

Neither. Just limit Healers to 2

No meta.

Multiple types of compositions are viable (radical idea, I know).

  • 3+ DPS

  • Triple tank

  • Bunker/Pirate ship

  • Dive

  • Etc.

Impossible by the very nature of the game, as well as the very nature of balancing a game that isn’t Street Fighter 1.

I mean… Do people actually get to play any of the metas except for those who are in GM? I hardly saw proper dive before, and I hardly see goats today.

As for watching, I guess in Goats you at least get to see what everyone is doing since they are usually all balled up in the same place. In dive you would have people scattered all around that it was harder to follow and easy to miss a important pick.

Moth meta was terrible, like actual madness of OP hero.
Even Brig at her prime wan’t like the first version on live mercy 2.0.

Btw Goats at his prime wasn’t really a thing below masters, and out of competitive it was never heard of.

But the prime moth meta…
Regardless of which mode and did you played, without mercy it was like playing 6v7 without ults and 6v10 with ults.

Did it ever occur to you that moth and double sniper fuelled each other though?

Snipers counter mercy + mercy rezzing ~3 people

But the only viable counter to a one shot is to Rez

They brought about each other

Honestly, I’d rather it be the moth meta.

Brig wasn’t there, so AoE heals weren’t out of control yet, and you didn’t have to worry about boops as much. I like being in control of my hero and have a chance to kill support or sniper heroes instead of getting stunned, shattered, WM-1ed, booped, and clapped back to spawn.

If she rezzes my prey, I can just surround them again before they have any chance to move, or pressure her away from their soul. :slight_smile:

That’s why I’d rather peak GOATS than Moth meta, since the inherent synergies of Mercy and Snipers essentially made the only real counterplay to a Widow+Mercy combo being a better Mercy+Widow combo (well, more accurately a better Widow).

Which is why Double Sniper was the most garbage meta to exist. Like don’t get me wrong, I’m sick of GOATS, but at least with GOATS the other 5 team members actually matter. Games aren’t decided simply by whoever had the better Brig or Rein or Zarya.

Moth meta was better, even though I thoroughly despised it because I don’t play Mercy.

There can always be more than 1 meta though but in ow’s case, the things are pretty dry.

Nah I’d say goats is even worse for healers because with moth meta, it only causes the main healer to play a different main healer. For goats, the main healer has to play an off healer, which is difficult since it feels like most support mains either play mercy or Moira or lucio

None. An entierly new meta, thank you.

One had atleast many different comps and many 2x2x2 and heroes be viable. While it had the single most OP character ever in the game, while also being the most noob friendly.

Yet the other is the 6 same characters, that not only never changes, but also excludes 50%+ of the community and 50%+ of the roster, by them being useless in the comp (Aka all DPS and their players).

One is annoying and boring to be forced to play, if you play that role. But the other has singlehandedly excluded most characters and players from a meta, one is clearly worse, by this fact alone.

Why only healers tho?
Just limit everything to 2.
PERIOD.

Because I care more about reasoned gameplay design, while maintaining variety, rather than spite.

Also look at it this way, with a limit on healers. It gives the devs room to buff healers without worrying about triple/quad stacking.

I.e. Buffs to Brig, maybe buffs to Mercy/Moira/Lucio.
