Most Influential Players All Time

This list factors in Impact, Playstyle and overall attention they drew to their main heros.
Inspired by SuperTF’s recent Top 10 main Tanks All Time.

  1. Miro - Its been years since Miro was titled “The Godfather Of Main Tanks”, subsequently i havent talked or heard about him since i 1st started playing in 2019.
As above due to how influential he was to an early game, it wasnt long before the dozens and perhaps hundreds of following Winston players not only stole his Playstyle but overshadowed him.
    This is not to discredit him, he is the most influential player of all time in terms of;
Impact- He single handedly changed the game from a 2D environment into a 3D environment, superseding the Reinhardt based strategies.
Playstyle- He literally invented the fundamentals of what we consider Winston play, and every player since owes their playstyle to this man (scientist).
Draw- While this is difficult to accurately confirm,
i would not say that Miro had more Draw for his hero then say a few other players.

  2. ChoiHyoBin - Perhaps not as flashy as some of my other picks, but due to consistency over a long period of time he has garnered respectable attention to the Off Tank role.
Impact- Won 2 OWL Championships, as well as respectable performances in Contenders.
Playstyle- Did not have a role in revolutionizing Off Tank gameplay, however he was a great team player somebody i would liken to Dennis Rodman from Pro Basketball. In many ways this aspect is what made him such a great Off Tank player.
Draw- While not as big a Draw as some other Off Tank Players, he has been seen for years as a main stay amongst Off Tank circles.

  3. Brandito - While this Streamer deleted all content fromt heir Youtube channel which made it difficult for me to gauge the timeline of where Doomfist Rollouts started. It would be an understatement to describe the notoriety and Draw this player had as the most popular Doomfist Streamer.
Impact- It is difficult to prove now, but at 1 point he was the most popular Doomfist streamer causing shockwaves throughout the community.
Doomfist has given Overwatch the most dynamic hero gameplay evolution, and this can largely be credited to Brandito.
Playstyle- Although Chipsa had the 1st recorded use of the word Rollout pertaining to Doomfist on his release day, it wasnt until Brandito that the Rollout playstyle truly began to bloom.
Draw- While i cant accurately confirm this, he was once a staple of all Doomfist adopters in their early journey.

  4. Gator - The reason i made this list, Gator was a member of the team that spawned Overwatch’s most infamous gameplay meta, and arguably the most important part of it.
While Triple Tank and similar Rush comps iirc had been around for a while, Goat’s as this comp became known was the clever addition of a Briggite to the already known Triple Tank comp as well as 2 other healers.
Impact- Originated the most infamous meta of all time, boasts the best Orisa in OWL, as well as somehow forcing Reinhardt in Season 4 of OWL when everyone knew it wouldnt work but making it to the Grand Finals.
Playstyle- While not revolutionizing gameplay on any of the various heros he plays, he has mastered all of his heros to a spot in each heros Top 10 players at an OWL level so has shown that he is a great student with great game knowledge.
Draw- No significant Draw that i could think of.

  5. A_Seagull - From the early days of Overwatch there was a Genji main who did Genji things. A_Seagull was a personality much like xQcOW that the community rallied around and loved. His Genji highlights and plays had a significant effect on Drawing fellow weaboos to the cybernetic ninja.
Impact- He was 1 of the biggest streamers in early Overwatch, while being a pro player for the Dallas Fuel.
To this day his name still has clout in the community due to nostalgia.
He also started a trend of dedicating his in game handle to a bird followed by 2 other pro players that i can think of.
Playstyle- While he didnt revolutionize Genji gameplay, he is noted for having 1 of the most famous clips in early Overwatch uploaded on May 27, 2016 garnering at this point 7 Million views.
He was a very good Genji player mentioned in the same conversations as the other literal dozen or so Genji Grandmasters.
Draw- Arguably did the most to entice curious gamers to Overwatch destroying teams as the flashy ninja.

  6. JJonak - Arguably the star player of Season 1 tied with xQcOW, Jjonak was a gifted Support player who revolutionized the Zenyatta Playstyle and subsequently became a fan favourite for it.
As well as being recognized by Blizzard by having the 1st custom player skin made for him and being the reason his hero was nerfed.
Impact- Changed the perception of what a Support can do, and dispelling the heal bot mantra prevalent in the community.
Playstyle- Progenitor of the 3rd DPS zeitgeist that has permeated the playerbase.
Draw- Has had a considerable influence in drawing players to Zenyatta.

  7. Yeattle - Nicknamed “Camper” due to gatekeeping Rank 1 Tank for so many seasons, this guy earned the last spot due to his knowledge of the game and his matchups, as well as his win conditions.
With Wrecking Ball becoming such a prominent fixture of modern metas, it has brought to light the skill ceiling that this hero posseses.
Impact- Probably the most infamous player on ladder, his Wrecking Ball gameplay has revolutionized the way Main Tank is thought to be played.
Playstyle- While not as flashy as other Wrecking Ball players especially in the Korean sphere, his Main Tank energy is a well of knowledge for any player stuck on the ladder. His use of this hero is barebones yet effective.
Draw- While i cant confirm how many he drew, i can certainly say that with Wrecking Balls popularity as a hero skyrocketing that many of those players will look to Yeattle for guidance and pointers.

Honourable mentions;
xQcOW
Harbleu
Viol2t

Most influential player of all time is probably the collection of players and coaches who came up with goats back in 2018

Only person influential enough among any of them is XQC, othjers simply are nobodies that no one outside of compreddit will know.

Brandito and jjonak were cool though.
