More news about the Acti-Blizz lawsuit

Meh The truth is that I am more concerned about Halloween skins than those clowns do

On the bright side if Blizzard went entirely bankrupt and shut down from this lawsuiteā€¦ it wouldnā€™t affect OW much. They have bled staff like crazy over the last two or so years. Both regular workers and executives have left the company.

If they went bankrupt and it defaulted to Activision or something I donā€™t think much would realistically change about the game development.

It would be unlikely that they would have documents such as that as they would not fall under the purview of any investigation. Thinking, rightfully in many cases, that your community is a mess whose if they were allowed to design a game would have 32 heroes who are all exactly the same while at the same time still wanting buffs and nerfs for all would be a disaster.

Sadly the problem is the OW devā€™s seem to listen to the community, or at least blame them when things go wrong. Itā€™s just fringe groups like popular Youtubers or Streamers for years. Then OWL came out and they almost listen exclusively to what proā€™s think.

Well it can always get worse, imagine if EA bought OW

The truth is funny sometimes. This made me chuckle.

People claim ā€œdevs donā€™t listenā€ when they really mean ā€œdevs donā€™t implement my specific, uneducated suggestionā€.

Not sure if this is confirmation bias but this completely misrepresents the story.

The problem is there is a conflict of interest with the California state lawyers who, if they were leading the case against Acti-Blizz, would be breaking the law according to the Federal body that recently settled with Blizzard.

Please edit this as this summary is unbelievably inaccurate.

EDIT: Thanks.

No, the document obviously wouldnā€™t be labeled as ā€œBlizz devs think their communities are idiots and donā€™t know whatā€™s best for themā€. It would be an off-hand footnote on the list of employee grievances collected for evidence.

Well i mean can you blame them? These forums makes me want to gouge out my eyes with a spork. Its not arrogance imo

Theyā€™re stalling. Thatā€™s what theyā€™re trying to do.

Who exactly is stalling?

Blizzard is stalling. Theyā€™re trying to get the lawsuit to take as much time as possible.

I mean they recently told their pros in their mlg league that they would get disqualified if they even mentionned anything about ABetterABK when they insisted that they ā€œheard themā€ and would listen. Thatā€™s not even mentionning the total lack of acknowledgement of any demands of the movement.

Between this scandal, the reaction to reworks and balance changes, and the sheer amount of time itā€™s taking to even remotely see anything with no promise of polished gameplay, I have a hunch that OW2 will be Dead on Arrival. And given the way they handled OW1 (and the apparent toxicity of their workplace culture) I really donā€™t care at this point.

To wit, the best game ever created, the grandest masterpiece of them all is a direct result of overworking employees to the point where many of them were literally sleeping for an hour at a time under their desks.

Red Dead Redemption 2.

Are people reading the same article I am?

From what Iā€™m gathering, the issue surrounds misconduct in the lawsuit AGAINST Blizzard. A conflict of interest that threatens the accusation itself.

I know itā€™s popular to hop onto the Blizzard hate train, but this seems like itā€™s giving Blizz a legally valid defense.

50-50 imo. They sabotaged the investigations and the lawsuit from the side of California but if it goes deeper California must hire new and maybe even more stricter attorneys for the job.

Honestly debating to leave OWā€¦ (Already found an alt friendlier site I can spend more time.)

maybe not on arrival but give it a month or 2 till the novelty wear of and will definitely will be.

I donā€™t expect anything to change with OW2 on that front and developing new stuff for OW2 will be even harder which means even less content than OW1.

Here is a quick summary iā€™ve made for what happened up until now. It will be updated as things happen in the future

Oh, for sure. We wonā€™t see the same level of hype we saw with OW1 what with memes, fanart, or voiceovers of comics. Once you rub off the fresh coat of paint, you get a first person shooter with moba characteristics but none of the fun parts of either, and thatā€™s sadly what this game is known for these days.

And with that comes stale metas and heroes/comps that remain blatantly busted for most of the year before being nerfed/reworked to uselessness.
