Month since Xbox/Microsoft banned XIM devices

Hey everyone

Wondering if anyone has noticed the amount of XIM use in console pool has gone down? Today it’s almost a month since Microsoft went ahead and updated all Xbox consoles to block and disable all third party devices that are plugged into an Xbox or attempting to pair over wireless.

You can only use official Xbox accessories now, or controllers from third party developers that are fully licensed and authorized by Microsoft/Xbox. So anyone using old modified third party hardware or those that use XIM, in order to get a working mouse and keyboard will have the following message displayed.

So yeah, very interesting. I can’t link any articles and stuff, but you’ll quickly find it on google if you search for “Xbox third party accesory ban” or something like that, from what I understand Xbox has been the most popular platform to use XIM on and stuff like that? Not sure how it works on PlayStation or if it’s even possible.

But very interesting Microsoft has rolled out the update on all Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles, meaning people can’t just buy a XIM online and plug it in their USB.

I don’t think it’s changed because I haven’t seen the yelling yet

Xim requires an official controller, though. As I hypothesized, this change from microsoft does nothing about xim. Go use google to see the people that own one talking about it.

Honest question though, is it possible it’s being circumvented somehow?

Or is it possible that message doesn’t appear due to the way XIM functions?

Can we get a confirmation on this functionally?

Because it clearly is not meant to deal with xim… M$ couldn’t care less about xim and how some view it as “cheats” (I am not here to argue if it is or isn’t cheating, that is beside the point now)… They actually do care about licensing the controllers you use to make more money. And if they can get social approval for that, that’s just better for their PR, so they won’t clarify this…

You know they (The XIM devs) probably just patched it right? This is the very same problem as with R6s mousetrap system. It’s an ongoing and never ending war. You can block them out for a while but they’ll just figure out a patch to get around it
