Moira SERVERLY Needs to be Nerfed/Reworked (Damage)

I bought and have played this game since it’s release in 2016 and even though the devs have “balanced” the game they continually screw it up over and over with every new character they release. The one character that continues to piss me off the most when playing against is Moira since her release. The devs don’t want to recognize the screams from players online either on here or other places. I doubt the devs will ever actually listen to their players and posting this will yield no results other than a few angry comments saying she is “balanced” when she clearly isn’t. Anyway here we go.

She either needs to be support/healer or pure damage. Even then her damage is something that needs to be changed.

First is her right click damage beam: Why the hell does it have such a long range (20 meters or 65.6 feet) and add on the fact it connects or hooks to the enemy when you touch 1 pixel of their hit box and does full damage even though shields. If it did less damage when on the outside of the player and more if you actually focused center mass it would ok, but it does full damage and you barely have to try to track an enemy just kind of follow them and they melt, because it hooks onto everyone. If they were worried about range they gave her the damage ball for a reason. Which is the next thing I need to talk about.

Second is her damage ball. It should not ricochet off surfaces. EVERYONE complained about other heroes that had abilities that ricocheted and the devs got rid of them. But Moira’s? Noooo they do nothing about it. Now the range and its LONG duration is stupid. The fact she can throw it and have it go THROUGH shields and then go all the way across the map if it doesn’t ricochet is way to far. Then have it basically go on FOREVER before it deletes itself. Come on. It does a small amount of damage, but when you add on the duration and ricochet, I’ve literally watched it wipe out most of my team when she half haphazardly threw it into a hallway, then turned around, to heal her team not caring that she just melted everyone is BS. One thing I barely mentioned is the fact it goes through ALL shields, Sigma, Ramatra, Rein, Zarya, Brigitte, even Symmetra’s ult. Shields that are SUPPOSED to block all incoming damage and the ball goes right through all of them.

Even with the latest reworks for Moira was buffed for some reason.
Health increased from 200 to 250.
Biotic Grasp
Secondary fire damage increased from 50 to 65 damage per second.
Secondary fire target acquisition radius increased from 0.6 to 0.7 meters.

and I get that all other heroes also got more health and damage, but giving more health/armor and increasing everyone’s damage at the same time doesn’t change anything blizzard.

Everything else about her I don’t mind, it’s not terrible. It’s just her main damage abilities that are ridiculous.

Things I would change:

-Reduce her right click damage beam range by half, force her to get closer at all times even with her teleport.
-Remove damage beam be able to go through shields.

-Remove lock on for damage beam so it doesn’t hook onto someone when barely tracking them.
-Reduce right click damage.
OR
-Remove beam lock on and make her right click do less damage on the edge of other heroes and more damage when focused on center mass. Increases overall skill level needed to be good at the character instead of barely looking at someone.

-Remove ricochet of damage ball
-Reduce range and duration of damage ball
-Remove damage ball ability to go through all shields

Skill issue. Her DPS slightly increased by 0.2 seconds.

Just say you’re bad against Moira, that you’re a DPS main, and that you asked for this Meta.

It is stupid how much value she gets for how easy she is to play. Anytime you see Moira getting picked in Korean esports you know she is overtuned.

Okay…

1: 20 meters is really not that far. Every hitscan in the game has their fall-off beyond even 25 or 30 meters, and abilities like Hog’s Hook or Brig’s whip are also 20 meters. Not to mention Moira has to do damage to recharge her healing meter.

2: her weapon is a beam. Not a lock-on. All the beams in the game do full damage if even 1 pixel touches a characters hitbox. If Zarya touches 1 pixel, she’ll do the full 90 damage. Same with Sym, full damage. Even Echo’s beam.

3: neither her primary nor secondary fire go through shields/barriers. Coalescence goes through barriers, and her Orbs will pass through them, but her primary and secondary fire do not. Hell, her orbs won’t damage you unless they’re on the same side of the barrier that you’re on. The orbs don’t damage you through barriers, they simply move through them

If you wanna nerf her, then nerf her beam’s damage to 60dps or something. Reducing her range by half, or making her orbs not ricochet is frankly a stupid nerf

Moira is meant to be a damage/healer hybrid, so I think it’s important that she does both well. She has zero utility otherwise, so it only makes sense for her damage and healing numbers to be high.

She is tough to duel for some heroes, but less so since the DPS passive was added. She can’t keep herself healed as easily now vs DPS heroes.

She’s only too effective when ignored and lots of people ignore the DPS Moira flanking their team. That is frustrating, but I don’t think it’s unbalanced.

her problem has never been that she does both

and whatever they do in future as far changes/reworks go should not remove that aspect of her

its how she goes about doing both…thats why youre hearing the complaints

I think this is the moment where you tell everyone what you’re playing, so we can discern where the actual problem lies.

Moira’s beam DOES lock on after you initially tag a player even looking away a fair bit it stays connected and at 20 meters it’s BS.

Other characters like say zarya, echo, symmetra, etc. with beam abilities you at least HAVE to hit the actual character model for it to do damage.

Regarding the other beams they do more damage the longer you do damage or get charged via a shield like zarya which is fine. At least you need to aim a bit to continue to do damage, but like I mentioned Moira’s LOCKS ON and stays connected as long as shes kind of close and within range. THATS THE PROBLEM.

but she doesnt have a lock on…its just a visual thing…its just a cylinder in front of her

a cylinder thats so big that she may as well have a lock on (its harder to miss your target than actually hit it)…but nonetheless not a lockon

Yet she’s one of the most played characters in OW history, in all ranks. Imagine that. It’s always amusing when people try to downplay how obviously broken she is, yet can never seem to answer the obvious question of why she’s used, in all ranks, so often if she’s so weak.

No, she is not currently played. She has been played since her addition to the game. Extensively. More than maybe any other character.
