You press e and throw it in a general direction of the enemy and that is free ult charge and easy damage. It lasts 10 seconds and then you instantly have another orb to throw.
People that compared this ability to reinhardt’s firestrike obviously lack understanding of the game and I feel bad for the dev’s jobs who have to read this forum.
Firestrike travels in one direction and it requires prediction of where the enemy is going to be, there is no ‘lock on’ to nearby enemies when a firestrike travels. It is a projectile and easy to dodge.
For the people that say ‘walk away from moira orb’, you do realize you have to walk about a meter before it stops locking onto to you and you give up your own positioning just to make sure you don’t randomly lose 50% of your health before the fight starts. The only heroes that are ‘good’ against moira orb are doomfist, reaper (not so much), mei (not so much either) and thats about it. If tracer doesnt use her blink immediately after a random moira orb attaches to her she loses about 40-50hp which is HUGE for tracer and she has to either ask for heals or use blinks to another healthpack and by the time, guess what, theres another moira orb in her face. I literally cannot play tracer without improving my gamesense, aim, and learn flanks. Its a hero i have to GRIND to get better at. But when I played moira, I was already good at the hero since it’s so damn EASY to play and get INSANE value out of (usually have 4 golds on moira btw).
There is NO learning curve to learning how to use moira’s ‘damage orb’. Its simple:
Press E look at the enemy and release the orb, even if you miss, the orb usually locks on to them since it has a pretty big lock on range to make up for your lack of ‘aiming skill’ or it can just bounce off a wall and travel to a random enemy and you will have it again by the time the orb is done doing 200hp or just after 10 seconds.
You can pretty much win 1v1s against any dps except for mei, doomfist, and reaper in close range since you can do an easy 100dps with your right click (autoaim) and the orb (even if you miss the orb by like a meter, it will usually lock on to them bouncing off walls).
Honsetly, I felt BAD for playing moira and killing pharahmercy in plat/diamond SO EASILY, you just kill the mercy and then lock onto the pharah. I am fairly certain that as a moira you can kill pharahmercy quicker than soldier up until 3.7k rating. Of course you could argue that ana can 3 shot pharah and mercy but remember ana has no mobility, her sleep dart is a skillshot and so is her antinade which is requires a lot of time and learning of ana’s nade projectile speed. With moira, well, you just spam the orb. You don’t have to learn anything about how the moira orb works and just use it.
As a gold ana player, I usually lost to their moira since her random orb spam took away most of my health forcing me to use nade on myself, and then she would just fade through my entire team and kill me for free then go back and heal her team about 4 seconds later.
Moira is absolutely a broken character in solo queue in every rank since you have to use your mic and make calls almost all the time and you can’t depend on solo queue players.
I picked up moira and climbed about 700sr in about 2 days. And I have to say this, moira’s damage orb is the most unskilled highest rewarding ability in the game. I cannot play ana at ALL because my team will just cry about not having a moira and complain that if you are in diamond you should stick to moira since ana requires aim, gamesense, positioning as you can be easily punished. Moira on the otherhand has a very easy kit which is extremely forgiving for your mistakes. I usually get my ult on moira in about 20-40 seconds spamming damage orbs and healing a little then doing a ton of healing and damage with my ult.
I hope moira’s damage orb gets a rework, it requires no skill (for people that say it requires skill, then explain how literally anyone who plays moira for the first time are already so good at using moira orb?? is it a skill they were born with??)
Other than the moira’s damage orb, I think her kit is balanced for the most part and is really easy for new players to pick up and start winning games easily in solo queue.
PS: I love getting random kills 5 seconds after throwing the orb without having a single clue of where the enemy was XD (happens about 3-4 times every game haha). Oh and i LOVE bullying the rare zen one tricks on the enemy team too
Really sorry for those ana mains who have grinded and improved by putting in a lot of time. Most of them quit because of moira but there has been an increase of moira mains too, which I think is good right now. Hopefully, the meta changes so that high skill high reward characters are played again.
And for you moira mains on the forums that compare moira orb to a rein firestrike, torb turrets, and other hero abilities… please stop with your pathetic attempt to reach out at literally anything to defend the fact that moira’s orb is not a low skill high reward ability. Her orb needs a rework in the sense that it should provide utility for the team (the one thing you people keep complaining about) and should be a skillshot.
Also to blizzard: Please stop making heroes that are low skill and high reward. People who have put in time and effort to improve should obviously have the better chance of winning. There is no real way to ‘outplay’ the enemy moira except if you have insane gamesense and can get easy value from risky positioning. Of course diamond moiras are better than moiras in plat and so on… but if I am a gold support I shouldn’t be able to randomly climb just by switching to a low skill hero like this.
Someone please tell me how many custom games you have practiced ‘throwing moira orbs’ in??? Has anyone really spent time and effort into learning ‘how to throw moira orbs’. Please let me in on one of these moira orb throwing training dojos.
