Moira replaced Mercy as the "easy" healer

When this game came out, from all the healers, Mercy was considered the “easy to pick” healer.

The another two heroes designed like this are Reinhardt and Soldier 76.

They are heroes that are designed in a way that they can be useful in hands of someone that doesn’t know how to play.

They’re usually very straightforward:

  • Moira literally heals, do damage and can flee from dangerous situations.

  • Reinhardt gameplan is “if I need protection, I press barrier, if I need to do damage, I use the hammer”.

  • In soldiers case, is literally a character inspired by every type of shooter game out there, I shoot, I kill.

I think now that we have Moira as the “raw healing” character, Mercy skill floor and ceiling should be raised.

I would like to see something in the line of “resources priority-management”.

“I have X resources, in who should I invest them before I can access to them again?”.

I don’t know, if you don’t heal for X time your healing is increased over time and will decrease when you actually heal.

Something like that.

Both Moira and Mercy are considered “easy” until these people calling them “easy” have to play them.

No hero is easy. Every hero has a learning curve and little niches/tricks you learn as time goes on.

Even now, after playing Mercy since launch, I’m learning small things that I never realised (such as cancelling guardian angel when I superjump makes the cooldown start early).

But I digress. Nobody should say “x hero is easy” if they don’t actually play that hero.

“flee from dangerous situations” When I hear that sentence I don’t think of Moira, I think of Mercy

Mercy can still get shot down when using GA and is entirely visible. Moira is made invulnerable and invisible for a short period of time.

yes, but the fleeing part

Well I mean, by all means they are pretty easy to use compared to the other healers (even Brigitte requires more skill to use nowadays to use than the both of them)

I’ve run into this issue a few times when introducing new players to the game: is Soldier actually easy?

He has to aim, and aiming in this game is damn hard. If you take someone who plays Call of Duty and tell them to duel a Tracer with Soldier:76, they’re going to find it infuriating.

I find that Reaper’s a better choice, since his shots hit most of the screen and he has an easy escape.

No, Brigitte requires a different set of skills.

Moira and Mercy are less aim intensive, but both require a lot more spacial awareness because they don’t have a shield or a stun readily available to protect themselves. But they do have ways of escaping bad situations.

Again, this is different sets of skills.

Most players from experienced players will find Soldier-76 the easiest one because of FPS games.
For inexperienced players Reaper is better option.

Hard disagree that Mercy needs a resource system.

mercy rein and soldier are getting you ready to play your role, and they all have high skill ceilings, but with low skill floors for new players to pick them up. Moira has a ground level skill floor and an almost equally low ceiling
