Moira needs big changes

Personally I’ve always felt like moiras design is pretty lazy. Seriously I have like 100% accuracy with Moiras attack. For anyone with decent aim you can have dafran like tracking with Moira. Why is she like this? Her attack hitbox is way too forgiving and because of this it’s incredibly easy for her to build ult charge, which brings us to the 2nd problem with Moira; her ult is soooo obnoxious and visually intrusive. I hate playing with Moira simply because that stupid ult just throws a bunch of swirling colors all over the screen and you can barely see whats happening, and you can expect a moira ult every team fight cause it’s so easy to build.

Can we discuss Moira rework ideas here or other smaller changes? If she was turned into something that demanded a bit more mechanical skill there would be more room to buff her in a fair way. With her current design she will always be good but not great. There’s barely any room to improve on Moira because maximum value is so easy to hit. She’s a hero that can be mastered in a day. She’s a safe pick, guaranteed 7/10 value. But Moira mains aren’t actually improving at the game, cause she’s a hero with a very small space for improvement.

In low ranks people average like 35% accuracy with heros like McCree, 76, and Ana. If you make her hitbox smaller it becomes harder to fill her resource bar, effectively stopping her from being able to heal

That’s her issue, you don’t get better at Moira, you get better at overwatch
It’s what makes Ana, and Baptiste effectively better than her, higher skill ceiling

i made a bunch of rework posts, i always get that moira is fine answer only to see the same person post you ruined moira when the inévitable nerf comes around

Right, and then, like everyone else who plays the game, she has to develop certain skills to flourish.

Well you could do a soft rework like with Brig (I say soft but… it was more like a smash in the face and then given a little juice box). Something to make her a bit harder to play or not as safe, but also some way to show some skill differential.

I should mention that I am a TERRIBLE Moira. I dunno how, but yeah I pretty much throw on Moira. Maybe her kit is too simple for my big brain to comprehend.

I don’t see this as a problem. I’ve gotten better at overwatch While playing Moira and am now trying to learn not to suck playing others.

If they do tweak things, I would not take away her ease of use. It really helps new players to have a character that’s easy to use.

Her difficulty rating should be changed to 1-star. Change Brig to 2-star. That will encourage more new players to start with her.

Well yes, but what I’m trying to say is

Do you really think that low - mid ranked players would appreciate low/no healing?

I dont care, change the refill charge amount, but an all in one no aim, no damage falloff, invisible, no leading, no recharge weapon that also self heals, isnt even moderately reasonable in a game where others have to learn to aim, lead players, deal with reload pauses, distance manage, and worry about their own health.

Remove her. Disgustingly overpowered and should be taken out of the game.

It’s unfortunate because her design and lore are great, but actually playing her becomes very boring after literally 2 or 3 games. If she had somewhat of a higher skill ceiling she’d be amazing to play as imo.

I still think it was a bad move by blizzard to make a support without any sort of utility outside of pure healing and damage. And I love moira, she’s one of my favourite heroes design- and characterwise but her gameplay wasn’t that well thought out in the grand scheme of things imo

Moira exists to give supports the option to protect themselves against fast moving targets like Genji / Tracer.

Nobody was protecting their supports, so they needed to do it themselves.

She does exactly what she needed to. She’s a well designed character that answered a need. If you cant beat her, press H, Genji.

I disagree to this day that there’s something inherently wrong with Moira’s design in the game of Overwatch. You can pull up any of the healers and very easily say, “How can this character get away with this OP thing?” “This thing that they do is too easy and should just be harder to do.” I don’t think that’s a healthy way to examine characters, it basically leads to an attitude of bitterness that supports less interesting character designs.

That being said, there’s still definitely problems with Moira that could afford being tweaked. She is very easy to use, she does push out a lot of value without an intense amount of challenge, but that’s also part of her design. The challenge intended is that she has to manage resources in order to not be left with nothing to do. She can lose all of her healing, she can be caught without her mobility, she can see an orb go to waste. Playing Moira isn’t as simple as many people make her out to be, but I do agree that she’s probably the easiest support in the game.

I think that any “major” nerf they could hit her with is just giving her alternate fire ammo and requiring her to reload. It will certainly not cripple Moira, she’ll pose the same kind of threat she always has and still perform how she’s used it. Ideally, it would give her one more resource to manage, and not even a very complicated one, but those down times where she’s reloading will provide windows where she’s more vulnerable and can’t defend herself – not without falling back on other resources.

Other small tweaks could really benefit her, but I think the emphasis should be making her strengths and weaknesses, as they were intended, stand out. For example, her healing resource and how it functions could also probably use a change. Right now, a good Moira will very rarely run out of healing resource to a degree where it actually hurts her. I think it would make the character more dynamic if she had to worry a little more about that happening, if maybe the resource ran up faster and thus leave Moira and her team more open to attack. Other numbers would have to be changed of course so that she doesn’t just become a really wonky healer, but if there’s any one area where I consistently roll my eyes about Moira, it’s when she’s allowed to hold left click through an entire team battle and nothing short of an anti-heal or insta-kills is enough to budge through it.

Yeah I honestly feel like she was a hero that was quickly thrown together because of all the complaints of supports having no defensive play against dive which was meta at the time. Her kit just really lacks creativity compared to the rest of the roster.

Unfortunately as a Mercy player I find at least half the time I’m the one who has to try and keep the Moira and the entire team alive while she goes off on a mad flank. Usualy the first thing the enemy Moira does is fade into your backline uncontested and hunt the Mercy with that ridicuosly forgiving suck beam - assisted by those stupid orbs.

Not like they do it anyways.

Lol YouTube “Alex Jones as every overwatch hero” for a good laugh. Your comment about Moira reminded me of that.
