Moira is often considered a low skill hero. I wanted to try to demonstrate that she has a higher skill ceiling than most people realise. This video contains both custom game jumps and ranked gameplay footage.
I hope this may change the perception on Moira and how she can actually be a pretty skilful hero to use, excluding aim mechanics (which we all know are quite basic).

No way this is possible on Console.

I think it would certainly be more difficult lol. But then I can’t do anything on a controller. More than useless!

A lot of it is just practice and experience. I have decades of FPS game experience behind me. I always say to people, just work on improving your game, but more importantly work on enjoying your gaming experience. That should come first, whether it be competitive gameplay or a more casual approach.
You will improve faster if you’re enjoying your experience!

moira fade needs velocity speed buff… you showed off some cool jumps… but the jumps had VERY SPECIFIC Geometry requirements unlike doomfist who can bounce off practicically most 70% of ALL geometry that has a slant/bump

Ya i saw this on reddit love these i can’t do them myself reliably especially in combat, will get there someday, really Cool.
Performing the jumps and learning to do them consistently are two completely different games. To get them consistent you often need to hit them pixel perfect, which means memorising zones and distances on objects to hit.
There are a bunch that you can hit virtually anywhere though, it’s all about practice, trial and error. See what works for you and if it’s too high risk, don’t try it in combat.

Moira Jumps have been completely disregarded even by top Moira only players due to their insane inconsistency.
I’ve even seen a top Moira only player tell their audience to straight up ignore Moira Jumps as they’re a waste of time to learn.
Yes, I want Moira to have any tech whatsoever but these are just too inconsistent to even be considered tech.
Moira Jumps are exactly like Mercy’s Backwards GA. Incredibly alluring because if you could do it on demand you’d get insane value, but the entire point is that you cannot. No matter how hard you try, these things are too inconsistent and due to such inconsistency they barely exist in the game.

they removed lingering healing which i think it was skillful (not as in hard to do but not that many people knew about it) and the moira fade jumps are just rare to do in actual game. idk if there is a video explain how its done but id love to do fade jumps
I mean… I am a top Moira player, frequently #1 - 5 in EU on the hero with a peak SR of 4500. They aren’t a waste of time to learn, but they also aren’t needed to be a top Moira player. As for consistency, there’s no RNG involved. If you hit the exact same spot at the exact same speed and angle you will get the exact same results. Consistency can be learnt but it takes time.
Having the ability to perform these jumps in your kit is more beneficial than not having them, but you can play the hero fine without them.

Folks like you and IDDQD say this, but I’m thirty-nine and I’ve been playing computer games since the Commodore 64, and I still suck.
Take notes Mercy mains.
THIS is what cool tech looks like.
Do you find that you need to be fairly close to the ramp portion when you start fade to get the jump? So the assist is in the initial speed burst from starting fade?
Do you find that you need to jump slightly before or slightly after hitting the ramp? Or is the timing almost exactly at the same time that you hit?
Thanks for sharing. I’ve seen some vids of fade jumps before, and I’ve done a few (not super impressive) ones myself. It’s something I’d like to practice, but I’m not very good at recognizing/finding useful places to do it.
I guess some people here say that pro players disregard fade jumps as inconsistent/a waste of time…But idk. Even if it’s not something you’re using all the time, I bet it feels pretty good in-game to pull some of these off if it helps you escape or get a kill.

Every hero has skill. Whether people like it or not, that’s the beauty in overwatches design, and is why it attracts such a massive crowd of different people… every hero requires skill, but all require different skillsets. A gm soldier might not be able to hit diamond with mercy for example.
There are a few universal skills, then there are individual skillsets for each hero.
You don’t need to be close to the ramp, but you do need to still be in the fast part of the fade. However, being close to the ramp allows you to get consistent timing. It’s more about the height at which you touch the jump object rather than how close you fade to it.
It’s far easier to learn when to hit fade and jump, than to fade and try to get the jump timing correct, if that makes sense.
That numbani car jump to give chase was mmmm, so good.

Also Moira the widow hunter.
