While technically one should not take it literally I think its still fine to say she has lock on. Its simply to say she has such forgiving aim its easy to wield. I see nothing wrong with this.
Its like saying everyone’s doing it. Literally not everyone is doing it, but it shows many people are doing something.

Because it’s not a lock-on. She still needs to aim.
Symmetra’s old weapon was a lock on. Mercy’s healing beam is a lock on.
It just has a slightly larger hitbox than Zarya’s beam, it’s not a hard concept to understand.

The problem is that people will spread that misinformation, and lack of understanding means people may not know to how to take advantage of the fact it’s not to save a teammate.

It really isn’t.
The only thing that makes it better is situational things like body blocking or certain abilities that can help you break LOS and put in a bit of damage while she turns to track you again.
