Moderation on Content Creators is Inconsistent | Read Edit

Edit: Since people are only reading the title, my Point is that content creators get special treatment, and this clause is not used consistently.

  • Go here to save time

Distribution of Real-Life Personal Information

This category includes:

  • Releasing any real-life information about other players or Blizzard Entertainment employees

If a player is found to have participated in such actions, they will:

  • Be permanently banned from the forums

These are still players after all, so could we stop filling these forums with what complete random people’s opinions. If they want us to know, they can post here themselves.

The rule described refers to doxing so that a person could be targeted IRL. Reposting other opinions is a completely different activity.

And thats the end of the thread.

I think this pertains to doxxing and not opinions.

You are saying posting, say, Samito’s real face and live gameplay of his account isn’t doxxing? If I did that with you, I’d be in trouble

Right, and we are displaying users in every streamed video. We are literally pairing faces with accounts every time we do this. I’m not even focused on the opnions

So you mean I can’t share that Flats lives in America? Dang it’s been a good run, guess I’ll wait for my perma ban.

Technically, no. I can’t share where you live, for example, or post your face here. There are no clauses that separate unaffiliated streamers from regular players. I’ve seen people banned for mentioning Samito before, for example.

Merely mentioning the game director in an otherwise TOS acceptable manner can and has got people banned. (don’t ask me how I know)

if by talking about content creators you mean revealing their house address or ip address sure otherwise you can call samito an idiot all you want and it’s completely fine

you aren’t allowed to even say that about one of the public facing company people, actually.

No? If you post public information, then it’s not doxxing.
If you were to find out his real address and post it, that would be doxxing.

LOL… Streamer fanboys up in here…

You make yourself public, you open yourself to criticism. Both good and bad.

yeah and that’s what the rule is referring to just real-life information

Such as a streamers face and personal account used to stream?? I cant post videos of your face.

uh so did something happen with samito again?

flats lives in boston right? since he has talked about it in his videos i can also talk about it on the forum since it’s not “releasing real-life information” it’s information that’s already out there

What separates you from Flats? You are both just random players. That is my point? the line between random dude and “content creator” is thin. It would be public info if I doxxed you, no?

i have not put my face on the internet i’m not on any social mediae excluding discord i have not disclosed where i live that’s the difference

So if you posted a youtube video, its fair game? for all time? Just one youtube video is the line between random player and “content creator”

yes all the stuff that i mention in the video(s) are also allowed to be talked about on the forum
i have some videos here if you want

Lol, no it would not be ok, it would be removed asap and you know it.

The original point of this thread was that these are random shlubs, and their opinions are not relevant to discourse on these forums through linking content.

They are random users like you and I, and we would not be allowed to be plastered all over the forums.

It’s selective enforcement. Blizz has determined that these random people are more deserving of relaxing rule enforcement. they aren’t employees, they aren’t devs, they aren’t anybody but random users like you and I.
