Mobility creep is real and nothing is being done about it

The only way is to go full CC counter and hope for the best.

There isnt just mobility creep (lol Juno) but also an anti-mobility reverse powercreep.

Turrets have been castrated and real CC is basically a premium that a few heroes (often the few ones that cant do anything about flankers) are allowed to have.

Indeed, its a sad state of affairs.

I mean mobility is fun. I don’t really see the problem. Mobility just gives players more gameplay options

Mobility = fun
Mobility creep is the only good kind of power creep

Yeah if the entire game is built around it. Otherwise it just becomes ‘‘every mobile hero is now freely farming immobile heroes’’ if there arent anti-mobility countermeasures.

OW isnt and never has been a game built around it.

We need more CC, especially for DPS heroes. Only McCree and Sombra have ways to fully cancel movement abilities without ults.

We need more hinder than raw hard CC tbh

Mei used to be a great alternative but they absolutely gutted her. With the addition of lifegrip and cleanse theres not much you can do nowadays.

Actual answer is we need three things

  1. The whole debate of projectile heroes other than hanzo not being good against air heroes.

what we need is skillfull anti air passives like hawkeye has in rivals, that just does enough to drop people down for a sec for large dmg projectiles like junk nade, mei ice, spear, firestrike etc.

  1. We need to bring basic mobility for static heroes against dashy mobility, thats bring some sort of basic mobility to heroes like ana zen cass zarya sym mei eitc basically all slow walkers.

this in itself will make them feel not oppressed against high mobile heroes, the advantage will still be with high burst mobility but you can deal a bit.,

  1. Yes we can have soft cc like hinder, the only thing is it souldnt be easy like huge aoe nade, or auto like hack etc.
make it part of ability like dva booster bhoop, or ashe coach etc i mean abilities like that i m not asking it for them .

heck given sym sentries destroyable why not make it part of their kit, that if the sentry hits you its bursts and hinders you for a sec.

Not if there are characters that are firmly immobile. Especially when those characters are given absurdly strong anti-mobility tools like CC or auto-aim which are designed to ruin mobility (aka fun).

Unless it’s something like a tank with really low damage output, immobile characters will always be absurdly broken or completely useless with no in-between. I think it’d be best if everyone is given decent mobility.

Simple solution, delete low mobility characters or give them mobility in exchange for losing any CC or auto-aim they have.

Mobility is good. CC is bad.

We need more mobility imo. I wish the devs would remove AoE heals/immos and make more supports with movement like mercy/juno. Juno is the most fun I’ve had with a support since OW2 launch.

The game would die out because Tracer lovers are not enough to sustain it.

Overwatch was GOTY when its hero diversity was at its peak. Prioritizing a subset of players over others is not conductive to anything but a dead game.

OWC just opened my eyes for how much more easy mode the game has become.

That is an acceptable solution, for me at least.

Though I feel like the devs have been pretty adamant about not providing certain non-mobile characters more mobility.

Overwatch is built around it, the only characters in the base game not to have any kind of mobility were Zenyatta, Symmetra, and Roadhog, and Symmetra technically had/gave mobility with her teleporter even.

Overwatch has always been a mobility centric game. The only characters that have been added with no mobility are Ana, Sigma(who again technically has it), Orisa originally, and Ramattra originally.

Symmetra, Orisa, and Ramattra gained mobility, and Zen technically gained mobility. So the only characters in the game with absolutely none whatsoever are Ana and Roadhog. Game is built for it, especially since many of the hyper mobile characters are launch characters too.

Not really.

Last bit of mobility creep was with Wrecking Ball as being the fastest hero in the game. He still is; and no one has really gotten as fast or faster than Mercy, yet.

Hazard is pretty well restrained in terms of mobility. And Juno doesn’t really go that far with mobility than Echo, Mercy, Pharah or Lucio. Her double-jump might be a little better than Genji’s, but not really significant enough; and the Glide component to that is still a slight bit faster than Mercy’s.

This is mostly false.

This is false.

Junkrat’s still available for shutting down lots of mobility, as is Mei.

Life-Grip can’t pierce an Ice Wall.

Hawkeye in Marvel Rivals isn’t the only one with an anti-air ability, fyi.

But the mechanic isn’t a bad one as more fliers are introduced; I’m not sure we’re there yet, though, but Ramattra exists for this.

They already have it, or have ways to slowing down mobility.

The problem lies in the ways they designed mobility for Tanks and Damage-role heroes is different from each other. Whereas Tanks get boosts in movement speed, Damage-role heroes get mobility that acts more like short-ranged teleports or deliberately suppresses slow-effects. So while Mercy might get pulled down when using Guardian Angel and prevented from going anywhere, Pharah can freely use Jump Jets in the ability’s zone of influence and not suffer the effects until its duration ends.

Right, and the common counter to a lot of mobility was static defenses and defense-role heroes. That role is gone, and the last one made for that role was Ashe. The rest of the defense-role’s capabilities and responsibilities were incorporated into the Tank and Support roles.

It would probably be a good idea to reintroduce that role and start making more heroes for it, again, as a way of countering or threatening mobility. But, like before, they’d probably have no real effect on the Tank-role.

It wouldn’t because more people prefer skillful fast heroes over cringe turret ones and pickrates prove that.

Keep on with the cope, it will look good when the ship is done sinking

Flanker players have never been enough to sustain the game.

After 6 years of non-stop nerfs to heroes like Sym while Tracer remains the untouched balanced welfare queen? lol?
