MMR+Losing streaks

So… I’m not stating to be the greatest player by any means. Just check the profile, I get it held against me frequently enough.

However, since I’ve been paying attention to it. Man… I fear to get anywhere near an overall 60% win streak.

It’s that time where I notice the game gets pretty heavy handed with the losing streaks.

I’m willing to bet some of this is also being tilted already though after say the 3rd of 4th loss in a row.

TL;DR: Just curious, has anyone else paid attention to this (especially tracked some data on it)? If you’re at an overall 58+% win streak, the game just feels really spiteful to pull you back down to the 50% range?

I’ve been playing comp since season 3. Been in gold/plat since then. And to tell you the truth it gets to the point where I ask myself am I having fun playing this game anymore?

Let’s face it no one cares what your rank is. It isn’t going to move you forward in life. So my question for you is…are you having fun with Overwatch?

Now imagine what it is like with no PBSR Diamond+ lol

Luck goes both ways. People just tend not to notice their 6 game winning streak.

(LMAO, I can’t quote you because of the last 4 letters in your name  )
See, I would agree with that statement because it makes absolute sense, but in 100 games, the highest win streak I’ve had is 5.

Sometimes there are trends where I see 3 wins in a row, or sometimes even 4 wins in a row, followed by a loss or two (which feels perfectly normal and understandable), but then… hammer time.

In the wins there are some where it challenges you. Things like a team that is everywhere, you backfill (these results are from QP), and more, but you come up winning.

However, it’s kind of like this person mentioned:

Now, the lose streaks I mentioned don’t happen often, but eyeing my winrate, I hit a point where I now go… “Oh boy…” because I know that storm is coming.

I mean, what do I do? If I see it around the corner, offset it by deciding, “You know what. I should just instalock the DPS I want to play and ride it out on my terms,” and I ultimately consider, this is QP results. You guys mentioned competitive, so dear God, what do you guys have to do (it sounds way worse on your end).

The biggest tip i can give yall. Stop playing if you lose two in a row, thats basically what i have done since season 1. I’ve got multiple accounts that each fill a role I.E this is my alt tank main. If i lose two on my (actual main) support main ill swap to this account and play a few. If i lose two here i ll swap again.

But yeah if you don’t have multiple accounts just stop at two losses in a row.

Last night on this account playing at a Low masters rank i had people deliberately throwing. It happens. It’s all part of the circle of life.

I’ve always said, as long as you are not the thrower statistically the enemy team has more chance to have a thrower. So eh.

I just don’t play into the system anymore. I play what I want, when I want. Since the people that are actually good will rank up regardless of what I do. It’s more fun for me

Youll probably find youll do just as well, if not better playing the heroes you want than flexing/doing what the team wants.

Just because you think you can flex doesn’t mean you can.

[/quote] You have a word in your name that is filtered, hahaahah

PMSL, I need different accounts to play heros on that I cant play on one account but don’t want to as it will ruin my MMR/SR, so laughable.

You are the problem this game is a crapshoot in comp.

What? Because i’m a high masters/GM support i don’t want to play my Diamond DPS, that makes me personally the problem with comp?

I’d literally be throwing games if i played DPS at GM rofl. Dia+ doesn’t have PBSR, it’s all win/loss. Climbing after Diamond is much harder than the earlier ranks. All i’d be doing is ruining the game for the other 5 GMs on my team.

Pretty sure attitudes like that are the reason comp has it issues man. Toxicity is rampant. You completely skipped over my point which was “if you lose two in a row just stop”.

It’s not the game trying to pull you down, it’s you being unable to keep up with the higher skill as you climb.

So it decides… Hey, they’re doing pretty well… Let’s put them up with say 5+ games that are going to really challenge them?

I get where you’re coming from. That makes sense, do pretty well, push the player a little to see if they can keep doing it.

However, it’s like… You’ve been learning to ride a bike, and you’re getting better, so your folks decide you need to handle going down steep hills a lot till they finally decide, “Okay. You fell off and scraped yourself up 6 times now, maybe we’ll get there at a later time.”

You’d probably feel like, “Oh? We couldn’t do that after say… the 3rd time?!”

yes, i went 2 seasons with 65+% winrate from 2600-2700 to 3200 then dropped back to 3100 with ~50% winrate

which is how it’s supposed to work

i improved, i climbed until i met people of my new skill and stayed there

now i haven’t played much lately so i probably go down 100-200 more SR, because i can clearly see i am not as good as i was back when i hit mid diamond

So… It was a sharp decline… or a steady decline?

I’m talking about a sharp decline. You’re saying the sharp decline felt reasonable and made sense? Or would you have preferred a steady decline?

Option A:

  • You lose 5+ matches in a row. Some you genuinely lost, some you really had no control over. You’re kinda settle at a range you float around.

Option B:

  • You win some, but you notice the games are tougher and you actually lose a lil more too. You kinda settle at a range you float around.

Which Option do you think would burn someone out quickly?

i don’t remember, i just know that i went from winning 8 placement matches and then keeping to climb to losing 7 and then staying there the next season

Understandable.

Option A or Option B?

more like B i guess?

i definitely felt quite a few people were being better than me

And that’s a good thing at times because it shows you that you need to improve and be at their level, and you can more actively see you’re getting there. You can find the improvement areas.

However, we’ve all read it on the forums from people, I started to notice it from just casually recording data, and I’ve known another Blizz title with a glaring issue of the same thing.

The game has a horrendous panic mode of leveling out someone’s winrate. Plain and simple… it sucks.

that’s not the game, that’s you

View must be great from up there.

actually you’re the one with your head in the sky looking down for excuses, i know my limits and don’t get mad about it but work on pushing them
