I hope all the people crying about the mmr reset realize that this is what literally every single lower ranked player has to go through when they start each season no matter what their skill level is. 90% of high ranked players have the belief that its super easy to solo queue climb out of gold/plat/diamond, if it is so easy and people just need to “get good” than maybe this is your time to show us that instead of crying about mmr reset.

Why do you think that high ELO players need to prove themselves twice? And what difference does this make for lower ELO players? Maybe they’ll place higher due to random chance because of the chaos but they’ll most likely drop down again when the dust settles.

you don’t need MMR reset to get out of silver. if you think it’s the “system” keeping you down, why don’t you make a new account with no MMR and try again?
I bet that new account will end up in the exact same rank you’re at now

Wow 2 salty comments already good to see the overwatch community is still going strong. How is the new season not the equivalent to people starting on a new account? You do realize that on a fresh account quick play factors into mmr to get a good mmr for lvl 25 placements you have to queue with people to make sure you win quick play games and dont just end up getting 6 dps and losing mmr??? This is exactly the hypocritical stuff that im talking about if you are so good than your placements shouldnt matter if you believe that it is that easy to climb. Even if you are a very good player if you are going against the competent players than you are somewhat at the mercy of your team if you win or lose even if you contribute to your team winnning.

it’s not equivalent to a new account, OWL players should not be at the same tier with plats (even after placements) especially when they stay on their main roles. Let blizz fix the MMR and if you are stuck, get new acc and that’s it. Doesn’t matter what others say.

Gotta love the answer to a problem Blizzard created, give them more money to get a new copy of the game. While it doesn’t always work it has in enough cases to be a cause for concern. People who have been stuck at a low rank for months/years get a new account and instantly start to climb.
What a lot of higher ranked people don’t quite realize is Bronze/Silver even Gold has some trash teams and games. Most the smurfs, hackers etc hang out in the lower ranks because they are less likely to get caught. They have the most fun stomping noobs etc.
Then you have people who barely care or out right throw, again pushed down in ranks like some unsightly garbage. Thing is if your in the lower ranks your playing with the players dumped down the ranks and have to rely on them to rise because OW is a team game.
It’s never been more obvious than with forced 2-2-2 just how much winning a match depends on your team, especially if you play Tank or support.

I don’t think anyone ever said it was easy to climb out of a rank. But you have to realize that if you have troubles getting out of one, you are more likely to belong in said rank. No matter what the game throws at you because I don’t believe this “every game has a thrower, leaver, etc”
It’s time to get over yourselves and accept that. You might place at a higher rank at first if you buy a new account or after a MMR reset. But you’re gonna fall back down real quick because you don’t have the experience to play against higher ranks.

No this is what you dont realize, the whole point of a mmr reset is for people to have to climb to their true rank. Winning 5 of 5 placements should not mean you are a gm player, it doesnt even mean you are a diamond or plat player. OWL players are going to carry their games and climb fast, average players will stall out at their actual rank. People who are still gm from bridgette and mercy being busted do not belong. They should become hardstuck plat where they belong.

Some ppl thinks that just cuz they did it once (got carried or boosted) they deserve to be there forever.
And once when they are on top, all they have to do is finish placements every season. not to mention, they get to play with much better teammates so no wonder why it seems easy to them.
Sure there are ppl who can go from bronze to GM but they are not as many and new account is much easier to rank up than a hard stuck account.

And im not trying to complain about being stuck. The account im playing on is only lvl 50 something and has only been ranked season 17. I played a lot and a different account seasons 1-9 and have 1200 hours on cs, im a good hitscan player who can climb thats not what im worried about. Im just saying people shouldnt be freaking out, they should of just let the season keep going and force people like seagull who’s quote of “get good” actually have to climb and go through what other people dealing with the wonderful players in mid ranks have to deal with.

Yeah that’s why when I did my placements, every single person on my team and the enemy team were high plat/diamond, and I won all my games except one. Because I don’t deserve to have this account where it belongs.
I checked. The SR range in my games was pretty even. There was only one master player in all five of my games, and he was on the enemy team full of plats/diamonds.
So considering this, and considering I held my own and had great stats, don’t I deserve to be there? Seeing that 2472 pop up on my screen after that final placement (which was a draw) made me so happy. This account has been stuck in bronze and then silver for two years. My alt accounts? HIGH GOLD/LOW PLAT. Exactly where I placed with the MMR reset.
That is where I belong, and I was given literally 30 seconds of hope, because as soon as I placed, comp was disabled and I came here to find out that nope, I don’t get to play where I belong, now I’m back to healing crap DPS and tanks who don’t have a W key.
Either that or I can go play on a low level account with none of the skins I like, and that has 0 sentimental value like this account which has been my account for Blizzard games for twenty years.

And they already proved it once, why do they have to prove it again? Just being able to maintain their rank is proof enough, I’m genuinly curious why people who have never even gotten close to their rank think they can question whether or not people up there deserve to be there.

I’ve played at GM and currently in high masters. After playing on smurfs I can easily see how people who dont play damage like myself can get stuck in the lower ranks. A lot of people think they understand the game and constantly flame the wrong people.
I’ve got GM on a few accounts that were in like gold but I had to play DPS until Masters to do it. BTW if you have to queue with someone to rank up please don’t play solo in higher ranks as it will ruin games as you more likely don’t belong there without a strong teammate who you played with to get up in the first place. It’s crazy to me how many people think they belong in a rank when the only way they could get there was through their stack/duo.
Apparently that’s where some GM players belong, too. Lol.
Or maybe we don’t want to spend hours of our life climbing back to where we already were. Do you want high ranking players to ruin your plat games?
I think the issue here is that it shouldn’t matter for high ranking players - or anyone for that matter - because like most people say, you’ll get back to your rank at the skill level you play.
The fact that it got people riled up makes other people think that they’re not deserving of it. Just look at the T500 streamers, they just scoffed at the whole thing.

No, because the MMR was bugged so there’s nothing you can take away from those placements.
Yesterday I saw a top 500 support player losing 2 of his 5 placement matches, he said he lost those 2 because his team had 5 uncarriable silvers… e.e
