Blizzard said that the hidden MMR only looks at wins and losses. Until they start using other stats to determine your actual skill level you will always have matches where one team gets a bunch of ‘boosted’ players who are on a lucky win streak where they are all carried in prior matches while an enemy team is full of the players that did the carrying.
Yes. Yes, you are correct. However it is a moot point though. Those that care don’t have authority and those with authority don’t care, at least when it comes to Blizzard and Overwatch. I mean they care about the money, but that’s it. They don’t care about the quality of their product(s) if they’re being paid.
People are rewarding blizzard’s unwarrented vitriol, so they have no incentive to treat players differently.
You can climb with a 48-49% win rate. Proof? A few of my T500 buddies who regularly play comp since Season 1 OW1 literally have 48-49% win rates and still climb.
They used to take performance stats into account. They stopped doing it at some point because they felt it wasn’t working.
The solution is to make climbing slower overall. It’s far to easy to climb right now.
They should do it like Valorant does. Winning matches counts partly towards climbing but you gain far more or far less progress towards a rank based on how well you played in those matches.
Players who get hard carried for 5 games in a row do not deserve to climb as much as the players that had to sweat to carry them.
Nah…Stats would just get padded. Winrate and MMR are fine it’s just tuned way too aggressively right now. Slow it all down so lucky winstreaks don’t suddenly catapult somebody up 1-2 ranks.
Or revert back to OW1 ranking system since it was fine.
