Mission modes are dead with a capital D

It’s time to play: Guess Why The Mode Is Dead! This time, our options are:
A. $15 paywall
B. Can’t use any menus or custom games during queue
C. You get put into a bot match after 2 minutes
D. 4 difficulty levels dilute the player pool

They should make this $15 purchase the PVE purchase. Period.

They won’t go back on it now, just don’t make us buy more to finish PVE!

At least queue time in the US for legendary are short as there are players still trying to beat it.

In my region (SA server), queue times take forever during the week-days, the modes are really dead, with Capital D.

And you forgot to add:
E. There’s no LFG tool to help it.

The more feedback I read of this “$15 for a $5 mission and 1000 coins” bundle, the more I’m glad I didn’t waste any money on this crap.

That’s what happens when the people running this game are disconnected from the community. The director is still delusional even after getting massively negative reviews on Steam.

No thanks. I’ll just stick with PvP.

From my point of view, being in Australia, I couldn’t trust that other players would buy it because I’m balking at buying because I think others will balk at buying and as such there’ll be bugger all people playing it in Australia. So yeah.

My issue is that they SEVERELY lack any sort of replay-ability. You cant even get XP from completing them.

I think if they were to adopt the Diablo 3 Greater Rift model. Where the mobs come in waves and each wave gets progressively harder, mixed in with WoWs mythic plus stlye of weekly affixes.

They dont even need to have this whole story mode flavor, just a random group of NPCs will spawn and you have to cut them down. The more waves you survive the more XP you get at the end.

i thought about that a long time ago and wonder how it would have worked. even when they said 100s of missions. would have to be random maps i guess but the you’ll have people wanting to play only certain ones.

i can see that in a mmorpg or ONLY pve game but still… wonder how it would have worked

It didn’t. Therefore we got what did work.

Some people need to start accepting that and the old management (not the new) made some mistakes in chasing something that didn’t work. The new and Team 4 have the unenviable task of basically creating and maintaining a whole new game in the eye of an angry public.

Plenty of other games survive with fewer players. I’ve literally multiple games that only have like 2000-4000 people on at any given time on steam for a purely 4vE horde shooter.

4 player difficulty is the norm in any 4vE player campaign and does not dilute the player base.

  • Normal (You go here solo to grind out stuff quick or are completely new).
  • Hard (The sort of default difficulty many will try)
  • Expert (The experienced regular player)
  • Legendary (Try hard runs).

Normal/Legend will frequently be dead. If you want Legendary, you’ll group up with people you know. Hard/Expert is what most people will be playing.

The biggest issue of the system for its longevity is absolutely no backfill. If you can backfill into literally any game that is going on in a wide radius you need significantly fewer players.

The other issue is that the game mode wasn’t designed with more randomized elements. This mode suffers from what archives had which is enemy spawns are completely scripted.

On top of that broken achievements that don’t unlock you the skin even though you’ve completed 8 achievements from the list. It’s like extra FU on top of already pathetic offering. Like, paywalling rehashed maps as “paid for missions”. Really Blizzard? That one that we got was so bland it’s painful and they have the nerve to charge for few more? This is the epic PvE we were promised in the past? Laughable.

I mean, most of us saw this coming though. The pve events that they had before were fun for a few games but that was it. It was too repetitive.

Hopefully the new people who bought it have learned their lesson and for those that were around for the old pve events well, you got what you paid for I guess?
