Its a fun game mode in general, prophunt is always amazing to try alone or with a group. However the state of the game now is pointless. Hiding is not possible unless you found some dubious spot on a roof or out of sight. The genjis are no longer searching for abnomalies but blatant meleeing around all objects and walls.
Its normal that 5 genjis are able to cover the entire map within the time given. The taunts are decreasing the amount of time even more.
What this gamemode needs is:
Larger map
Different maps
Less frequent taunts (or decrease taunts for props on the move)
Put a countdown or limit on genji’s melee (or damage genji for meleeing normal objects)
These are small changes for a good time. Consider it even though its a limitless gamemode, it will comeback, for sure.
This is the standard for prophunt modes in like every other iteration of it so when I played I was carefully picking targets… till I found out it didn’t matter… so i then swapped to dashstriking entire swaths of stuff and just meleeing EVERYTHING ELSE…
It makes me wonder if they ever actually PLAYED prophunt in any other game or they just heard about the concept.
the agreed timing (exactly two minutes) seems to me ideal with the size of the map and the possible redistribution of the 5 genji over the whole area to be searched. even considering it’s the best strategy for them to focus on multiple then realize they missed kiriko and her escape skills/map familiarity.
Absolutely yes. More maps creates multiples scenario to needs explore.
For now, they’ve made sure that a stun blocks the taunt countdown. Seems like a good compromise to me. rather instead I would focus on asking for more plausible objects in a given area that I am stepping on when I rematerialize. for example it’s damn stupid to be a tree inside a closed room, or a shark away from the sea area.
stunning is already a great compromise to defend against genji melee. but it is also not unfair to try to test in cd of 1 second (or half of it). and in any case it should be considered that the stunning system is excellent in which gneji cannot see himself around to understand where kiriko is moving now (who MUST be a bit reactive with the map to play well, she cannot limit herself to finding the perfect hiding place for two whole minutes.)
use all of the death match and 2cp maps, I think all maps are both large and small enough to give a nice variety.
get rid of the taunts on kiriko… it’s so lame to be forced to give away your position
change how you get points for a victory. if they only find 2 kiriko’s during the round then just give them 2 points that round… Winner is whomever has the most points at the end of “X” amount of rounds or first to 15 points?
I’ve never played prop hunt in any other game - this was my first experience with it. If you guys all think genji shouldn’t be allowed to just check everything I will defer to your wisdom on it - that doesn’t bother me… but man I thought it was super fun being able to melee and kill the hunters. I do understand that the way it was done was sort of broken where if you chain stunned the whole team you could just instantly end the game and that was BS, but I loved solo killing where i’d stun, hit them 2 or 3 times then run away and hide again - if they found me a 2nd time then I had a chance to actually kill them, but i’d be fine I guess if they didn’t allow you to kill the hunter.
I think the point is that you’re supposed to stay aware of where the Genji’s are using the pin to check around corners, and when necessary actively look to change your positioning to more advantageous areas especially with climbing over/under areas to confuse your positioning to them, not just sit in one place until they wander up and kill you. I’ve had some thrilling wins dodging, weaving, stunning and running around the Genjis already.
Makes it a lot more thrilling that way, like being trapped sneaking around in a haunted house with monsters while you have the occasional hiccups.
If i understood the game mode correctly, its not about finding a spot to camp, but to blend in with environment while constantly changing position when you are sure no Genji is watching. At least thats how i’ve seen Kirikos win most of the time. I might be wrong though, i haven’t played it since i got Spiritwarden skin which wasnt really that hard tbh.
