People came up with the idea of filling the empty spot…hear me out
What about if the person that fills the empty spot will not get a SR loss at all for helping a team that has less then 6 players
So it’s a win-win.
1.The team that has a leaver will get a full team again so they might have an opportunity to win again.
2. The person that fills in won’t get punished for joining an already ongoing match and still have a way to get Sr rating
3. The team with 6 people will still have more ults available than the newly joined player so they still have an advance
The only problem i see might be to fill that slot…for example healers / tanks are harder to find so if a healer leaves it might take a while to fill the spot
(option here would be, for example , if you qeue as tank you have to have an extra option to fill an empty spot no matter if it’s dps/healer)
Good idea ? or totally madness ? let me hear your opinion
Are you aware that competitive is not supposed to be quick play?
During the match, your individual performance changes and how are you going to decide which player is going to enter that match? You can’t. Hence it’s better you do it before match starts.
In competitive, time matters the most, especially if you are pushing the payload or contesting the objective. That is why I utterly hate it when I see our tank (or players in generaly), waiting for 1 dude to come back from “vacation” and then he regroups and then he moves and everyone from our team is up there, in-front of us. Player cannot enter fast enough to compensate for the lost time.
There is nothing win-win about that. It’s a temporary solution that would damage the game in long run.
Are you aware that function to pause a match would prolong same game to last even longer and probably cause players to go away from keyboard? It is basically getting into queue, play, someone leaves, get into queue again and then continue.
These wouldn’t actually solve the problem leavers create. All you’d do is create collateral damage.
The game is better off with backfill. The alternatives are either solutions that merely satisfy your need for schadenfreude or to do nothing
The resistance to even attempting a backfill system is dumbfounding when the people complaining about the drawbacks are the same ones tearing their hair out about their games with leavers costing them SR
Theres no solution for leavers… It’s just what happens…
They let people that disconnect come back, which is great, some gamea dont let that…
Byt about actual leavers, that just leav eon purpose and no dc involved, not much to do besides what they already do… Ban then after a while and then just keep increasing the ban the more it happens…

Didn’t believe I made a comparisment there, but quickplay has something that
could be implementend with something extra to make it work in comp play
Individual performance is good but it’s still a team based game
You could have moments where someone pops off and kills alot but it’s
usually the good team efforts that win most battles
Yes someone just joining would slow your team down when you want to regroup with a full group but let’s say your team is on the payload…someone leaves…someone else joins…why would you go back? i don’t understand that point
So it’s still a 100% win-win and might not be a temporary solution
I would volunteer to be on a list of backfill players for comp. I wouldn’t even care about the SR loss. I would be glad to help out underdog teams pull out the win from the jaws of defeat.
