(MIG) Overwatch 2 - Biggest NEW HERO Misconceptions!

(Side note: asking what new hero abilties you are looking for?)

TLDR:
-Mauga is not a confirmed OW2 character.
We do know he was being developed a while ago. Kaplan said kit didn’t fit the personality, and he was “put on hold.” Blizzard still has “big plans” for him and are excited to see him join the cast “someday.” MIG argues this isn’t confirmation that he’s actually done.
He says countless heroes go through development “process” and never actually see the light of day.
-Junkerqueen is more concrete on Junkerqueen
She has a 1st person model, and he says this would only exist if they were very close or actually done with her development.
-6 new tank/support heroes ready for OW2 is not confirmed even remotely.
It’s based on a few quotes, but none confirm anything. Kaplan said they have “tanks and supports in development,” but that means nothing. Back in 2018, they stated they had “6 new heroes in development,” but there have been 3 new heroes, plus Sojourn (so there could be “2” at least) but this again isn’t saying much.
-There’s no confirmation of 40+ heroes in OW2
There was a specific statement that OW2 would be “Pushing 40 heroes,” and that there “may be more depending on the timeline.” Pushing means less than, not more than, so there could even just be 36 heroes and that would meet that definition. But it’s an open statement that doesn’t actually give us much.

I blame the education system for that response.

Well, if that is the case, what about Maximillian. He has an in game 3D Player model that is actually finished (seen in the archives event), and he also has a voice actor that voiced him, and a player icon and sprays.
That is more than all the supposed new heroes besides Sojourn.

He said why in video.

im thinking 4 at the most. of course i want more and they probably are in the works but i dont think they will release with more than 4

yea i saw that, thats why im thinking 4 now. that thread changed my mind about maybe us getting 8 heroes at launch. sucks

I understand the reasons behind not releasing Mauga, what the game needed at this time is not the kit that fitted with his personality. That was the main reason made by jeff japlan and other developers.

Ok, lets be a bit cynical here, cause even if I can understand that statement…, I only need to remember some names:

Doomfist, tank required, enough dps, change completely placing a brawler purely based on skills in a shooter mechanica, most abilities with a CC touch in the worst time of ow, crowded with cc.
It is released as dps, brawler, cc and with one shot kill ability with the close experience of roadhog change and his hook. His abilities caused the community to be divided, some love them (the ones that love his gamestyle) the rest most likely find him annoying, balanced or not. By the way that style also causes a lot of bugs, making him miss rocketpunches or hit behind a car etc…

Briggite and Moira, released sorely for the purpose of having healers able to deal with the flankers with huge mobility. Briggite was good doing everything and her kit initially fit the “needs”?. As always after launch, and half of a year changing completely the gameplay to the point of dominating the scene and placing the owl league at that uncomfortable point… is nerfed to the ground.

Echo is released as an aerial dps, her personality is definitely a killer…??. Need of another aerial dps in the game?. Need of healers or tanks?. No, more dps please. Her ultimate of copying someone existing already in a roster pretty limited is, risky, to say at least. Needed changes that received not long after release.

Bastion is pacifist… his design is not. The bastion tired of war in the short movies show other face to the turret-killer- shoot everything at sight. Design needed for the game?, it has been forgotten in the high and competitive play, dominate and abuse of low level players and not coordinated teams. Not many are happy with his state since launch, one way or another.

Mercy rework. All done here good I see… heros never die… was the most famous line and personality, stripped of it to change the gameplay the game needed I understand by that statement. The solution made her a needed pick till was nerfed, precisely in what was her personality to add valkyrie… echo is that you flying?.

And we can continue with whatever character of the roster you want.
My feelings and, this is personal. Balancing this game is already pretty difficult, there are too many interactions, sinergies and differences between ways of playing it at all levels. The balancing team has said their philosophy was based on a three factor strategy…and explained it like if they created the wheel. Spoiler. They didnt.

Add to a game that is hard to balance a bad philosophy or direction from the beginning in terms of balancing. Uncountless tries and changes, changes of vision to adapt to the game how it is played and, at the same time, saying they were not trying to switch or impulse any meta… (laugh here)…And you have this idea that changes, modifies, is opposed to what is said, heroes changing and reasons for not releasing a hero due to the skills concept that is not “good” for a game that has been changed by EVERY release they made.

Is really schizophrenic and even if I understand the statement behind not releasing Mauga… cannot (sorry for being so critic here) understand the reasons behind translated as… “blah blah blah blah blah blah blah”

Honestly I feel like some Devs had different heroes in mind.

But higher ups pushed for sticky bombs and railguns to exist because they thought that was best for sales or something.

And they don’t care for balence nor if the game sees the light of the next decade.

Not exactly.
Ive said this before , OW was inspired by games like UT and Quake. And it basically borrowed (ripped off) every single weapon in that game and implemented it to OW.
A Sticky bomb kind of gun (Bio Rifle) was in that game.
Rail guns have been in those games too.

Im sure whatever other weapon they haven’t borrowed yet , has already been implanted in the heroes they have been working on in the background for us to yet see.

Not entirely sure on that.

For I haven’t really seen what I could call progress on the support front.
