Midtown hyperloop LOL

The hyperloop board in midtown is not going to age well. Hyperloop is currently a very short stretch of tunnel under a Las Vegas convention center in which Tesla cars are manually driven at 30 mph. If you don’t bother going down there to catch a ride, you can walk the route above ground about as fast.

Uh, lol. You walk 30 MPH? That’s pretty impressive my dude

If walking 2.5 miles at 5 miles per hour, you get there in 30 minutes. If said tunnel is 15 miles long, you also get there in 30 minutes.

I sincerely hope people don’t flock to like your comment due to lacking basic math education.

OP’s description and your comment don’t really add up. OP said “a very short stretch of tunnel” and you’re talking about a fifteen mile long tunnel

That’s a very long tunnel.

The tunnel is something like a half mile long, or so. It’s not straight, but it’s not circuitous, either. The issue isn’t directness. The issue is you walk outside, down into the “loop”, wait in line, board a car, which navigates to the tunnel, reaching a PEAK speed of 30 mph, has to slow down for an intermediate station. At the end of the line the car parks, you get out, walk up out of the thing, into another part of the convention hall.

There’s also a covered walk you can take. It takes about the same amount of time. There’s a video on youtube of two people doing just that. This stuff is easily googlable.

“Hyperloop” was envisioned as air-levitating pods traveling at 150 mph, an idea that is actually a century old. What Musk delivered was a tunnel, which took him a lot longer to dig than anyone else, through which Tesla cars are driven, by people, because he can’t get self driving to work even in this self-constructed closed loop. All this is available on youtube.

Two bendy buses would be able to take far more passengers and would not have required a tunnel.

Or if you have bigger projects in mind, there is also…you know…trains.

The point still stands as we lack specifics of the situation, or I was going to say as such until choker elaborated above.

How is this relating to Overwatch?

There’s a Hyperloop board in the Midtown station. You see it on the way out of the last spawn. The whole idea is farcical. My point was it’s going to become known as farcical and look silly in the game. “Not going to age well.”

I mean sci-fi is full of stuff that doesn’t age well. That’s just how speculative media works.

Sure. I was just pointing out that a 15 mile long tunnel is not a very short stretch of tunnel

That’s one of the longer tunnels in the world

musk is like Lex Luthor, but dumber…

Oh. I see and hear of a “hyperloop” and think that definitely feels future-y and knowing how often OW devs like to put in floating technology into the universe it fits

Hyperloops are the magnetically levitated trains right? or am I dumb

Honestly, no joke, this whole twitter saga has indirectly proven what type of man he is. I thought the internet troll him couldn’t be actual him, but it is, and its honestly comical.

What in the world are you talking about? Why would there be a 15 mile long tunnel to travel 2.5 miles?

And I’M the one that is somehow lacking in mathematical skills here? lol.

A quick google search says the average ride is 4 minutes (they were aiming for 2 minutes), and there is generally no wait. This ride covers the same amount of ground that a 45 minute walk would cover.

I’ve never ridden it, and I only read one article, but it seems pretty good to me.

Because just because you want to go in a straight line, doesn’t mean you can go in a straight line.

Your post didn’t do you any favors.

Ah yes, the boring company drilled tunnels under vegas, so that they could turn a 2.5 mile walk into a 15 mile car ride. Well, you make some valid points!

I used those numbers because it made the math easy, you really think someone walks at only 5 miles per hour? At least use some critical thinking skills.

Why don’t you try doing the same. lol.

You think they underwent this multi million dollar project, and it’s just as fast as walking? I can’t even talk to you anymore, lol. Have a nice day.

You really trust this Elon that much? The guy that burned twitter in under 2 weeks? Dude’s an imbecile. Of course he’s that incompetent.
