Middle East servers

just wanted to point out that there is alot of middle eastern aka (Arabs) playing overwatch and its kinda unfair to us that we are playing on 200ms becaus of how far eu - asian and U.S servers i would love to see the dev team or whom it matters to, to actually consider making middel eastern servers its Really upseting to play on minimum 160ms vs players on 5-10ms.

Thing is the majority of arabs are playing on EU servers becaus its the closest. Please consider my topic becaus it really matters to alot of us arab gamers and i would love to see some arabic Teams in the OWL!
Best regards.

Keep in mind that the exact same post was flagged as “trolling” and “Racism”

becaus of racist people who actually hate this post.

i paid for this game like everyone else i deserve to ask for a server or at least get an answer to why not we arabs arent getting a server.

Sounds fair, but does that region of the world even have servers that are available for use? Do other games have Middle Eastern servers? I’m curious.

dont think so lol…

Persians are there too…

only arabic servers i’v seen so far are for mobile games such as PUBG-Call Of Duty, its a start at least

It’s probably possible, if it’s possible in China.

But it’s more of a question of if it’s likely to turn a profit, and if the government’s in the area are willing to cooperate.

I wish it were that simple but its not. I won’t even touch on what others have mentioned but another area that has the same issue is Central America, who have to connect to either end of their hemisphere (NA or SA) since their location doesn’t host a large enough population to warrant their own server location.

Middle East has its own share of complications, and while its a market, its a market with a demonstrably smaller population of customers (not overall but, just customers). Probably the only location that would’ve been fine some years ago was Syria, which is actually a secular state believe it or not. But thanks to the Arab monarchies, Turkey, and US powerplays in the region, don’t count on that any time soon until the terrorists in Idlib are eradicated.

i belive that it would be a huge profit for blizzard to consider a middle eastern serverx
and for the goverment its heading towards a new Vision (incase if anyone havent heared of 2030 goals of saudi arabia) so i Belive that my country (saudi arabia) will be more than cooperative.

talking about my country at least no idea about the rest of middle eastern countrys

Yes but the Islamic Religious Police ( The Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice ) still exists in Saudi Arabia, yes your current ruler is starting to limit their power but that doesn’t change the draconian laws and beliefs that are forced upon the people.

Edit : I will add that I have nothing against the Islamic faith, I quite enjoyed the Quran but the fact that people twist the teaching to suppress whole populations (especially women) is why investment is a horrible idea (and should be avoided so as not to be seen supporting the draconian ideals of the rulers). Fix your country first then look at foreign investment.

This is an Overwatch forum not a political forum, you have absolutely no right to talk about our laws and personal beliefs! So please have some respect.

And for your information, we will be getting a middle eastern server in Bahrain soon.

IIRC, Overwatch uses Amazon Web Services to host its international servers (though there’s a chance they might migrate over to Google’s cloud services given OWL’s move to YouTube).

AWS launched a Bahrain server last year, so there’s a chance that Overwatch will get a Middle Eastern instance soon.

Seconded. The number of Middle East players I encounter in EU who struggle to play the game with 100ms+ and constant dc problems is staggering.

It isn’t fun for them to play with such a disadvantage, and it isn’t fun for us having a teammate who is struggling to play the game.

Wait… isn’t there a new server being setup in area?

I don’t remember the name of the server, but someone had pointed out on the forum about it a couple weeks ago.

folks in here have it backwards

inclusive and open-minded entertainment/culture like Overwatch being embraced by the people living in such countries ought to be supported, not withheld as some kind of wierd collective punishment

so if you really care, get behind the demands for middle eastern severs

I am all for it being put in - I actually encourage it for the very reasons you spoke of. My point was a likely core reason there isn’t one is due to the attitudes of those in authority (like China) that Blizzard has to tip-toe around.

I believe there was a Qatar server that went live a patch ago? I don’t remember but I have an Egyptian friend who said their latency has improved a lot.

A server in Bahrain appears to have been opened, as mentioned earlier. I don’t know if locals consider them synonymous, but they are at least neighbors.

Yea Bahrain is the server, I forget aha.

This thread needs a reminder that people are neither their government nor their religion. There’s nothing wrong with wanting less latency, or a few revolutions.

But yeah AWS Bahrain has a PTR server rn.

It didn’t go live? Wuuuut okay then. Might go live today with the experimental card tho!
