Mic does not work in any play setting

I’ve never had this happen until recently today, where I used the Astro a50 headset, Corsair headset and Alienware headset.

I am able to speak and here players in each game setting for about 5-8 minutes then no one can hear me talk, or I can’t hear them speak.

Steps I did:

  • updated windows
  • repaired the game
  • uninstalled the game
  • checked in sound settings don’t automatically connect to devices
  • removed and readded sound devices

Nothing worked. I deleted all old programs and nothing worked.

So at this point the only way I can get it to work is if I toggle, let’s say in a group to group chat versus team chat it will work but only for 5-8 minutes.

Any help would be great

Can you add a dxdiag here?

Click here to show/hide DxDiag instructions
  1. Press Windows Key + R, then type DxDiag and press Enter.
  2. In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
  3. Name the file “dxdiag” and click Save.

To add it to your reply here:

  1. Open the text file and copy all of the text.
  2. Paste the text in your reply.
  3. Highlight the pasted text and click </> on the post editor.

If your DxDiag does not fit in one message DO NOT shorten it. Instead, post it on Pastebin.com and provide the hash code (the numbers/letters after the .com) in your reply.

This problem only started recently. I have replicated it on Astro A50’s/Alienware Headset, and Corsair.

At the beginning of the game, it starts working I can hear players and they can hear me. After about 5-8 minutes I can’t hear anyone and they can’t hear me and the chat icon does not populate.

From this point I have one of two options. If I’m in a group chat, I can go back to the group chat and then back to team chat and it works again for 5-8 minutes.

If I don’t have friends playing, I can toggle the com devices and that seems to work again for 5-8 minutes. This is the only fix (momentarily that I can find).

I have updated the drivers, updated the computer, tried different head sets, and still the problem persists. I’ve changed them to not be taken over automatically in sound settings as others have suggested but atlas, no dice.

I have even redownloaded the game to see if that would help and doesn’t appear it to be. Other games it’s fine I played DOOM Eterneal last night and it seemed to work just fine. Microphone recording on PC does not quit either.

Heres the DXlog thing request.
I guess I cant add links to my posts?

You only need to provide the hash code, not the whole link.

The staff merged your posts so the troubleshooting process is more streamlined. Let’s keep all the efforts in one thread.

w0u4jiXJ try that? Hopefully this worked.

Event Name: MoAppCrash
Response: Not available
Cab Id: 0

Problem signature:
P1: DellInc.AlienwareCommandCenter_5.2.81.0_x64__htrsf667h5kn2

A few internet searches tell me that this app is also responsible for controlling your audio panel, and here we see it crashing. I recommend reinstalling the audio drivers for your motherboard, and possibly discontinuing use of the AlienwareCommandCenter, even just to test if it’s the problem.

How do I do that? Install the audio drivers for motherboard?

Go to the website for your motherboard and find their audio drivers.

Also it says NIMIC or whatever for a download and I’ve read your posts seeing that causes issues for sound too.

I downloaded both doesn’t help

You can try the ticket system for assistance from the staff. However, since this is an issue with your setup and not their software, they may point you to a PC technician.
