Meta predictions

What are your early meta predictions? Get your bets in early and see how close you can get to being right. People are trying stuff out, so it’s a jungle out there.

I’m betting the following highly improbable meta after all those changes.

High level
Ball, Tracer, Sombra (crazy, I know), Zen, Kiriko

Average players
Reinhart, Soldier, Bastion, Lucio, Brig

Yes, I get how this sounds. Feel free to laugh and then tell me what you think might happen.

Honestly, this is not far off.

I got placed masters 1, mostly been sigma / ball.

Ooo I like this topic.

It’s looking like…

Reinhardt, Sojourn, Widow, Mercy and Lucio.

The buffs Rein and Lucio got + Sojourn alt fire still being the best skill in the game combined with Widowmaker’s one shot + Mercy damage boost for both dps’s = the same meta just swap Ana and Orisa for Rein and Lucio

Well they’re gonna have to give Roadhog the mother of all buffs at some point mid-season.

Consider Soldier to be really killing it this time. Less recoil and being way better at burst firing with no recoil means he can hit targets better at multiple ranges and better at mag dumping at multiple ranges.

Since he’s also pretty independent and doesn’t need a tank/support for many reasons, he could be pretty A Tier this season if Ram/Sig aren’t heavily played this season.

EDIT: Also, Ana is still going to be high tier. Especially if ball is going to be played all the time, he will be atrocious and would HAVE to be CC’d/Anti-healed. Good ball players already didn’t die. And anti-nade still being over three seconds/100% heal mitigation is pretty overly strong.

Tank: Ball Dodge Ram, and Sigma
DPS: Sojourn, Hanzo, and any Hitscan
Support: Kiriko, Mercy, Ana, and Luico

I’ll give a low rank prediction. Mercy + Pharah. - and it won’t matter what they try to field against it. As long as the Pharah player keeps cover in mind for the mercy player, she will be unstoppable.

Lucio, Kiriko, and Ana for supports. Sojourn, Ashe, Soldier for damage. Sigma, Winston, Rammatra for tanks.

Ball can’t be meta with sombra existing and sojourn being busted still.

Either way, I’m sure both “metas” will change come OWL. The pros will find out that Zarya+Bap or something is actually a crazy OP combo, and everyone will try to emulate them.

I think its gonna Rein brawl as the meta and Ball dive as the counter meta.

Edit: My prediction on comps will be:

Rein brawl will be Rein, Soj/ Widow, flex DPS, Mercy / Ana / Kirko / Zen / Lucio depending on the DPS are.

Ball counter will likely be Ball, Tracer, Soj, Kirko, Mercy / Lucio

Asia will likely still play Monkey x Tracer comps.

Not as crazy as one might think, especially on the new map there are so many places to flank and break LOS, I played a game on the new map as sombra I went 23-3 with 38 hacked players, all I did was run around invisible hacking every health pack and then popping out of invis behind cover and killing a support or DPS. It was incredibly satisfying and I almost felt bad… Almost.

Soldier has been sleeper op since ow2 launched he can absolutely burn down a tank and with no second tank, visor is just sorta free.

Tanks:
Seems they’re wider on the selection. Of course people are trying them to feel it out, and its more varied on the ‘new’ maps that came back to the pools.

I know there are some specific tanks like Wrecking Ball or Reinhardt some players are trying more or forcing but I notice that many of them quickly change to another hero like Orisa, Sigma, or Ramattra when it isn’t working out. Especially if they’re not used to Wrecking Ball.

The other tanks seem more map dependent with high ground or environmental death pits. I’m leaning that most people will use Reinhardt, Ramattra, and Ball for now but it’s a bit wild in my MMR.

Damage:
I’m seeing a bit more things like Soldiers and Reapers. I think Sojourn will remain one of the DPS picks. I do see snipers and Ashe used on maps like Blizzard World or Rialto.

Support:
Mercy has been okay in my games. I still see her a fair amount, and maybe that’s because people are just testing her. While some scenarios shes been pretty good, others are still adjusting to the movement and getting caught or shot out of the air more often.

I think Ana and Kiriko are the main picked supports. I do see some Lucios depending on maps or compositions. Not much Bap, Moira or Brig. They have been good but the main game changers for my matches have been Ana or Kiriko which will probably remain the leading meta supports for a while.
