Mercy's Phoenix skin (Zhuque): Voicelines and other fixes

Summary

It seems that this skin has no voiceline related.
Can we get a voiceline like “Rise from your ashes!” for Rez and maybe a voiceline like “You won’t become cinder!” for Valkyrie too?

Or for now at least for rez.

Edit: Why the “lantern” on the top of staff doesn’t became blue light while boosting? (But this is another story)

She’s not a Phoenix she’s Vermollion Bird it’s diff in Chinese culture

So, according to Wikipedia (some notions):
Zhuque and Fenghuang are different, yes. But the Phoenix is more like Zhuque.
Zhuque is simbol of fire element, like the Phoenix.
The Fenghuang has a mix of various animals (dove, pigeon, rooster and others) and doesn’t resurrect from cinders, but reproduces like others animals. It is only a simbol for the Empress, doesn’t have ties with fire.

So, Zhuque is more like a Phoenix anyway. If there is truly a difference between Zhuque and the Phoenix, it’s is very very small and not enough for not to make voicelines related to the phoenix.

Zhuque doesn’t resurrect too

Yes, but in fact it isnt Mercy that resurrect herself, but she is who resurrect others. So it could be ok anyway as a Phoenix portrait.

Plus: in Patch Announcements it’s reported “Skin Red Phoenix (Zhuque) Mercy”.

Honestly? I don’t care. I don’t care if Zhuque is not a phoenix. Fenghuang has no similarities with Western Phoenix, while Zhuque is the fire element like Western Phoenix. Anyway, if we should be “politically correct”, Zhuque is the fire, Fenghuang is connected with “western phoenix” because Wikipedia say it? (or anyway because of it)?, Good, anyway that Mercy’s skin is a Phoenix. Mercy is resurrection, that is a Phoenix skin. They wronged name? Maybe yes, but who cares? Voicelines or/and effects won’t buff or nerf a hero, why we should be “politically correct” about a skin, in a game, that has many things that aren’t “politically correct”.
When Blizzard created that skin, they thought a Phoenix. Probably they wronged the name to fit with the “story” of this year, but i don’t understand why having new voicelines could be a problem. They will make only better a skin.

100% agree and I love the skin overall but was a little saddened at it not having specific altered voice lines :c :broken_heart:

They could add only because it is a Legendary event, at least they could make us know if we only have to wait and they’re working on it.
Genji’s event skin has an ult voiceline. Why not Mercy for her usual Res at least?

Plus, it shouldn’t be difficult. They added in the past the Witch’s voiceline so…

Im still disappointed at how Winged Victory got like … 1-2 altered lines.
They really missed an opportunity. “My patrons never die!”

Her Witch skin got a lot more altered lines than any of her other skins, which is nice but makes the rest of them look lackluster in comparison.

Zhuque is not a Phoenix though. It would be different if it was called Fenghuang, which IS a Phoenix. While similar, Zhuque lacks the restorative properties of a Poenix. Zhuque is commonly MISTAKEN for a Phoenix. Fenghuang is more akin to the Western Phoenix than Zhuque is

FengHuang is referred to as the Chinese Phoenix or simply Phoenix, specifcally, whereas Zhuque is not. However, the relation to the Western Phoenix is purely superficial. However, the Zhuque does not have restorative properties such as the Phoenix does. They likely only named it Red Phoenix in the patch notes because people would recognize that more than “Vermilion Bird”

Not exactly. The tail feather on this new skin? That’s what clearly distinguishes Zhuqhue from a Phoenix. They just named it Phoenix so people would recognize it easier. She’s the Vermilion Bird, not a Phoenix

Maybe i don’t know, but i don’t care to be politically correct in a game for adding a voiceline to a skin that not make any game changes.

If for that, Winged Victory Mercy should have greek voicelines, but she is Swiss. Who cares.

Not every Mercy legendary needs a set of new voiceines folks.

It was cool for Dr. Junkenstein and Witch Mercy, because they already had voicelines from the event.

Or, if you wish for EVERY Mercy legendary to have new voicelines, you better get ready to also ask for that Dragon Symm voiceline that’s already in-game since JR 2017, but still not implemented.

Anything else is blatant favoritism.

I’ve supported threads about it, and i’m ok with the Dragon Symm voiceline every time you can ask.

Can you like stop copying and pasting this comment on all the Mercy Zhuque posts. Let us Mery mains ask for something that fits the skin. Stop trying to correct everyone. It’s overwatch. Not all skins are realistic towards lore

Stop being a smartass dude it’s really annoying. You joined a thread to debunk us wanting a skin voiceline. She’s not Asian she doesn’t have to be culturally correct. She’s a Valkyrie for chrissake. She brings people from the dead. I think “Rise from your ashes” is a pretty decent ask from Blizzard

Yeah, any problems ya’ll have with this being more appropriately themed for the western pheonix you should just take up with blizz.

It was obviously what they were going for. So lets put semantics behind us.
