Old mass rez had a big issue. It felt not bad but miserable to play against it.
Your entire team’s effort was reverted by one enemy player pressing a button. After 5 people are dead, this last surviving member Mercy walks in and press Q then everyone on enemy team is back to life.
That “miserable feel” was part of the ultimate that needed to be removed not entirety of the ultimate, because it was the only ultiimate that could save you from “2 enemy team press Q button and your entire team die”.
It is miserable to have all your enemy be back to life just because an enemy player pressed a button.
But it is also equally miserable to have all your team to be dead simply because enemy team pressed two buttons-Zarya-HanZarya Combo.
Mercy Ultimate had a purpose
It countered grav.
It saved teammates from certain death situation.
It was the only ultimate that could save your teammates from “cheesy strategy of certain death”.
I imagined devs to rework her ultimate to be something like this:
Heroes Never Die (new)
Mercy and teammates close around her are surrounded by yellow light and take 50% less damage and become immune to movement effects for 4 seconds.
This new ultimate could have left Mercy with power to save herself and teammates and remove the frustration of Mercy pressing Q and saving everyone.
Becoming immune to movement effect means that you will be able to walk out of ultimates such as that of Mei or Zarya.
50% damage reduction means “a single enemy” won’t be able to kill a target that’s being pocketed by Mercy during the ultimate, but if “more than 2 enemies(aka dive)” or “DPS ultimate(Genji Blade or Visor)” was used to kill the target , that person will still die through the ultimate.
Also it won’t be frustrating as it is not “press Q after everyone is dead to bring them back”.
But instead all that, we have 15 seconds flying global heal bot.
Frankly I don’t mind the 3 seconds for self-generation to kick in.
As long as I can keep the bunny-hop guardian angel bug they introduced and kept.
I am not so sure about the 50 hps… It’s something that would have to be balanced against the other healers, taking utility and primary role into account.
Can’t you just give up? They already said they’re not going to revert her, Blizzard is happy with her right now. There’s a lot of other heroes who need to be fixed, and Mercy shouldn’t have priority for everything just because you don’t find her fun to play.
Wish I could say the same for the Brigitte threads that keep occurring daily but don’t have a megathread for, still.
Anyway, OP, not many will say this but I appreciate you posting some feedback on the subject.
Your idea sounds a bit like Zen’s transcendance.
However, mass resurrect is off the table as Jeff said a while back. We should be considering alternatives since we can’t go back whether we want to or not. Right now sadly they aren’t receptive to any Mercy feedback, until the megathread disappears then all one can do is keep posting various ideas on the main forum until they either get deleted or moved to the megabin.
I think this is an idea we should save for a defensive tank ult since the tanks we have now dont have any purely defensive ults.
Also why should it even be called Resurrect if its gonna get so drasticaly reworked? She isnt resurrecting you she is basically fortifying you… Yeah maybe this is a better rework for super charger after all.
What youre basically suggesting is to remove resurrect entirely from the game, something I completely disagree with.
Those three seconds were too much, they would force her back to staying out of the fight, which for a close range healer like Mercy isn’t an option. They could probably up it to as much as two seconds, but above that and her viability would plummet.
Just because you feel Mercy is fine doesn’t mean others aren’t allowed to express their opinions. Your reply doesn’t offer any constructive feedback to the thread’s main post in any way.
I guess because there’s a glimmer of chance that someone on the team might read it before it gets moved. It’s also a reminder that some people won’t give up until we get something that’s different and more cohesive.
