Actually isn’t that bad this time around? Being able to launch yourself backwards now is a nice touch if I’m being honest, especially while using Valk. I’d still prefer if it could just be reverted to how it is on live, though.
My biggest problem is that you can only get maximum momentum when using GA from roughly the maximum distance. The charge should be based on the distance from your target.
Mercys changes are absolutely terrible. Objectively garbage. Everything about it is worse, harder, less accessible than it was, so I don’t know what they are going for here. The character is completely neutered in terms of mobility. She is a sitting duck if she isnt a far distance away, and even if she is, everything is so clunky and slow. The max height on the jump is probably around 25-35% less than in the previous two patches. Flicking your mouse or controller for this just feels awful. whoever is in charge of this change probably should switch departments. its that awful.
revert back to beta 1 patch 2, or beta 2 patch 1 (and add a toggle to turn off auto SJ)
Yeah, it’s as if the Devs have no real idea what they want.
One version launches you into orbit.
The next is lower, but spammable in the extreme.
And this one is so hit or miss in the heat of a fight it offers no consistency, flow, or fluidity and makes Mercy feel worse.
And each new version keeps getting more and more complicated than the original OG-SJ, while removing other abilities in the process…all in the name of accessibility.
Yet none of the real issues with Mercy have even been mentioned or considered.
Like, how about a faster weapon swap, so you know, she can do a little more damage when needed in this new 5v5 format? Or maybe, not disconnect my healing beam when I ult?
I’d call those low hanging fruit, that would make every Mercy player happy, and be quite easy to fix. Instead of either making something you’ll have to nerf Mercy for later, or are a nerf to her now.
Devs. Consider this. The original SJ was strong, but you couldn’t spam it, just by its nature. You could get pretty good with pulling it off in a lot of instances, BUT there were still times, even if you had a GA target, it just wasn’t going to work.
But by trying to make it “more accessible” you make it into something that can be abused. Spammed. Used all the time. On every GA target if you like. Over and over and over and over again, from any height, etc. Which breaks it, or will eventually force a nerf to Mercy’s GA, just to slow down its use.
So you take something that self regulated, and was never an issue, and turn it into something that is an issue, either for the Mercy player themselves, or the people playing against her.
So my suggestion to you Devs…if you want to make the old OG-SJ easier, make the crouch component optional, and leave everything else alone. Mercy GA’s to a target, and depending on when she hits space, early, at the target, or after, affects what she does. Hit it early and you bunnyhop over a target, a little later and you arch higher and over your target, hit it in that tight little window at the target and you SJ, hit it after your GA target and you slingshot past them. Easy. Done.
It’s still a “timing” thing, just like the OG-SJ, so can’t be spammed. It doesn’t break any of her GA tech she can perform outside of SJ, and it allows players to work on, and get better at, a little move.
But if all we end up with is an easy button press, where she can’t go as far, or as high, or whatever, and all at the expense of other things she could do outside of SJ with her GA that was never an issue for anyone, then you’ve taken 1 step forward and 3 steps back, and just made a character worse IMHO, when you didn’t have to.
