…isn’t this what I suggested?
I read the title as “Mercy Chan” but turns out it’s not a fanfic. aw…
The chain beams are good. Keep them as is, we don’t need to juggle beams during valk but we can use the time we have to locate targets that we can pick off as Mercy when the time comes. You wont believe this but I sometimes need to heal my team for 60 hps vs somebody getting 20hps while healing another for 80. Especially in more chaotic battles where everybody is jumping around so much that I can’t keep track of who is who.
Leave her ult alone, just buff her base heals.
Shot call while you spectate. Thats what I do when I’m not ulting as well because I have the luxury of being able to look around while doing my thing. Pick a target on the enemy team that is more isolated and use your movement, regen and pistol to finsh them off. Valk is very versatile, it’s not bad as an ultimate. Yes it’s weak but changing it with this main beam idea really does nothing but take a versatile ult and force you to tunnel vision healing only because thats what happens when everybody that doesn’t get the main beam gets much smaller heals.
It will still be a weak ult but less versatile on top of that
Being able to chain damageboost is the only redeeming feature of valkyrie. Otherwise it’s a forgettable, low impact ultimate. Removing chains would literally make it a beefed up pocket mode single target ultimate and a pathetic ultimate at that, so that’s not an option. Going from 300hp/s for your team to a meager 80hps would be an insane nerf.
It still requires decision making since the chains are only 5 meter long, so to maximising chains or beam juggling to further away target, knowing which beam type is required and not getting shot down by high noons/tactical visor at the same time does require actual game sense and juggling.
However bigger main beam heal would make valkyrie a lot more impactful, but the overall hps should stay (relatively) the same and honestly no less than 50hps for the chain beams, else it loses a ton of effectiveness. And bigger main beam little chains has been suggested before, but they don’t really fancy our suggestions. Bigger beam during her ultimate does make pocketing worse, because with valkyrie it’s very easy to pocket things like genji blades, so that’s probably why they don’t want to do it.
However, it would be fun to have main beam effectiveness boosted with the amount of chain beams attached to it, to make it less a pocket beam but still effective juggle beam healer when healing groups.
55hps for chain beams, 60hps for main beam but for every chain beam attached, main beam gets extra 5hps and gets visually bigger and brighter, for a total of 80hps.
70 hps is just 10 hps more than what the whole team gets now. It’s really not something that will shatter it and make Valk any better but losing an extra 20hps on the other 4 members of your team (provided the chains are 40hps) means that you will have to spend all of it’s duration just switching main beam targets instead of all the other things you can do now. Not to mention most OW team fights are chaotic af, you don’t always have clear view of who your main beam is targeting when you use it from far away. Try to use Valk for more than just heals and it becomes better. She only needs help in her non valk healing and thats it
I’m the caller usually, I don’t need spectator mode for that.
Thankfully I have infinite regen, infinite spam bullets and infinite flight to do that really, really easily and with less skill than before.
Meaning it forces the player to make decisions and have an input, mechanical and otherwise, so they can get the results from their own individual impact instead of being given them for free.
If you want to call that “tunnel vision” be my guess. I see nothing wrong, in fact it is closer to Mercy’ base state which has no chain beams at all.
And saying Valk is not bad but it’s weak is kind of an oxymoron. It’s not like Mercy’'s kit is packed with amazing powers and she can afford to have an weak ultimate to compensate…
Less versatile is good. Another reason Valk is horrendous and weak because it does so much without exceeding at anything.
Make chain beams vastly weaker, main beam stronger, reduce the duration and we may have a decent, more skillful ultimate in our hands.
for the duration to be smaller i think the main beam should be 90 HPS with 40 HPS chain beams, idk a 75/35ish would be weak with a shorter duration
Valk needs a better, more skillful redeeming features for it is, as you out it, low impact and forgettable.
The idea is to weaken the skill covering part while empowering the skillful one, nerf chain beams, buff the main one, out the power in the player’s hands directly. Make it more impactful and less spectator mode.
Not really in my eyes. You suggested to either remove tit completely or make the chain beams nearly useless and without any meaning.
numbers in my post are just examples. hell, they can be 50 HPS while the main beam over 60 HPS, healing in valkyrie sucks in general but I still think the idea of not having to flick/juggle as mercy a bad thing.
if removing it won’t happen, this is definitely a number change, and not a rework.
Huh? Flicking?? Since when did mercy have to flick to heal?
Been talking about this for freaking ages.
Chain Beams are the thing that must be changed about Mercy and one of the worst decisions ever made by Blizzard about this game, I do not say that lightly.
Chains beams covers for skill, clash with Mercy’s kit and are the source of the major problems players have with the rework, a constant feedback that has been coming since moth Valk hit PTR and the paramount reason Valkyrie is such a boring piece of crap ultimate regardless of its power level.
If there’s anything, anything at all, that should be changed about Mercy, it is Chain Beams and if Blizz couldn’t manage that over years that shows to me utterly, sincere and limitless lack of care for the any aspect of Mercy’s gameplay.
as in constantly healing teammates without a certain teammate reaching full HP, they also call it flicking beam, also juggling.
It doesn’t…? Valk is an amazing ultimate if used correctly…?
