Mercy, what's valk good for?

I aim to have a nice discussion about mercys valk and what you a mercy player uses it for.
or if you’re not a mercy player what would you use it for and how have you seen it being used.

Keeping yourself alive. Baiting out more important ultimates/abilities/gunfire.

The rest of it is rather underwhelming.

Edit: ShadowHeart is right, Battle Valkyrie is actually decent.

I only have 13 hours on mercy, but I use it to charge forward and gun things down until I get killed. My gf, who is a 200 hour mercy main, generally uses it to kill pharahs or during a teamfight at random since it makes her heal a bit more.

Damage boost ALL day. I usually use it as an entrance to a fight or when I want the team fight to end faster.

I use it to survive blades and other ultimates that would chase me down.
I use it to clean up enemies left over that others can’t get to when the fight is close to wrapped up.

Genji blade? Valk
Mei ult? Valk
Sigma ult? Valk
Escape anything with a cast time/wind up.

It’s the legendary “get out of the way” move

If it will gauruntee you living, use it.
If you get a pick, use it and damage boost.
If there’s an easy to pick dps during a fight with little to no picks, use it and secure a kill.
Ultimately, you shouldn’t be using it outside that 5-10 second window Before a team fight. That’s where its strongest imo.

Absolutely nothing.

It’s a song don’t hurt me

to take out the enemy sniper.

but yes I use it for an extra boost in heals or damage boost too which isn’t all that great considering it kinda like temporarily putting myself around moira-without ult power level for 15s…

I mean it isn’t all that far from the truth.

I use at the start of engagements for a team-wide damage boost and to easily top the team off when our Rein lowers his shield for the brief second it takes to shatter.

I also use it in self-defense to avoid an incoming RIP-tire while still being able to heal/boost. I do this for other ults too like Death Blossom because if I valk and get in the air, I won’t die and valk heal + Moira spray stands a chance at keeping people up. I’ll also pop it when I see a need for aoe healing in general during a teamfight.

Can also pop it when I desperately need to rez someone but it’s dangerous and the movement during rez will keep me alive.

Sometimes I use the tail end of it to kill a pesky Pharah or Widowmaker as well.

interesting, to put my 2 cents in.
i mainly use it to go battle mercy when i see an opportunity for it, if i don’t then i’ll just use it in combination with someones elses ult to damage boost or to make up for the lack of healing that can happen sometimes.
when you run less healing intensive supports alongside mercy

i’ve never used it as an escape against an enemy ult, mostly because even if i don’t die, my team probably will anyways and at that point i’m probably gonna retreat and regroup anyways.

Ummmm, well you see…its good for…an easier zen ult?

To get an advantage in the fight with AOE healing, and a mini orisa supercharger. As a bonus you pretty much know you won’t die and it’s less risky to get a rez.
Occasionally you can go for kills if they’re not getting heals or if they are low, but when doing this if they get healed or get away get back to your team get back to healing asap.

Generally use it in 2 ways:
-If you have ult before the fight starts, use it as soon as it starts.
-If you gain the ult during a fight and no team has won/lost yet, use it right away.

Thats why I only use it for certain ults like RIPtire and death blossom (if we also have a Moira). It’s really kind of just I pop Valk whenever I think something it does will be useful. I primarily use it to start engagements though.

this basically sums up my use for it too. I like to give some nice dmg boost for my team when they push onto an objective or to just get the upper hand in a fight.

You use it according to you needs, for me it’s one of the most flexible ultimate in the game.

You can use to reach a target for Resurrection and change the game;
You can use to escape a death situation, Valkyrie resets your GA ability;
You can use to help your team engage after having a pick in the enemy team;
You can use to help your team have more resistance;
You can use to kill your enemies that are important picks for the fight, like killing a good Widowmaker;
You can even use it to save yourself from ultimates, since you gain some momentum while activating it, like a Rein shatter.

Hope I helped :sweat_smile:

Harder to hit while being able to swap back and forth between team healing/boosting and the occasional battle Mercy? Yes please

Mercy is my 3rd most played support. Usually use it to win an already won fight at the end with DB or after after a hold/push to heal up faster (especially if the enemy is a more mobile team).

Or sometimes to take out enemy Widows, Pharahs, and the occasional xiving the back line to harass Anas or Zens.
