She is my main character and I think she is ok. The latest nerf (10% less heal) was uncalled for and stupid, specially since dps characters are getting buffed. Her healing feels a bit weak but I still enjoy playing her as her mobility is still strong; and that’s the aspect of her that I like the most.
There are other priorities though, like Reaper’s self healing buff which was an imbecile thing to do. It didn’t get rid of Goats in ActiBlizzard’s beloved OWL and it’s negatively affecting the enjoyment of the game for the majority of people.
But given how little the devs care and how clueless they are, maybe they will address it next year if we are lucky – and then maybe, you can expect any positive changes to Mercy’s gameplay or any other heroes that actually need it.
I love her current state. She’s extremely strong in the right hands, balanced in mediocre hands, and ineffective in the wrong hands. Her skill ceiling is much higher than it used to be. She’s also no longer a must-pick. I think the support scene as a whole is in a good place. Everybody is the best pick for something.
(10 days late lol) It is a bug, no matter what anyone says. It’s difficult to use (especially for people on console, it seems) it’s inconsistent and there’s no in-game directions to use it. You have to use these unintuitive key presses. It was an unintended result of mercy’s movement rework. Pretty sure you can also trigger it if you GA to someone and get stuck flying into a wall during flight, if you press jump while you’re flying into the wall, most of the time it will rocket you in the air.
Also, just because it’s a bug doesn’t mean it’s bad. It’s not really an exploit. It has some cool uses, but it will definitely get you killed too since it’s a predictable movement. I think that it’s probably hard to fix, and I hope they never get rid of it, but I think it’s a tad unfair that you have to learn this intricate sequence of key presses to do it.
Thank you for being kind. I think having the ramp up/decay mechanic would help reward people for playing mercy dynamically, and kind of guide people into damage boosting a little more and overhealing way less.
Do I think blizzard reads these? No. Not the mercy threads. I think they would have said something about how they feel about our ideas by now if they did. I also feel like they’re diverting more of their attention and money to other heroes currently.
I feel like it’s not a bug, since the animation of her doing SJ, makes her literally dive down, and theres a default “jump” before you actually execute the super jump. Like, there’s too much detail for it to be considered, “just a bug.” But that’s just my opinion and my speculation.
I personally disagree. It makes her slide across the ground like shes stuck to it. If you arent playing mercy it looks incredibly unnatural. Those arent animations intended for the game, it looks like its trying to combine the crouch and GA animation. And the dip at the end where your supposed to jump looks almost like rubberbanding.
On top of the inconsistency, the lack of in-game instructions on using the ability, and the lack of discussion about it from the actual game devs lead me to velieve this is unintended. When bunny hop was discovered and then removed, they even said it was a bug. Then they implemented it as an actual ability and they told us. That has not happened in the like year or more that superjump has been popular.
I believe this is absolutely 100% a bug/glitch but like I said before, its not a bad thing. I like the ability. I use it, it comes in handy and its not game breaking. I think it would be a good idea to do with it like they did with bunny hop and just tell people how to use it in game, or find a way to make it easier.
The reason I am so adamant about calling it a bug is because theres a very real chance that it could be patched out one day. Gengi had a triple jump glitch that got patched out because it wasnt very intuitive and gave genji players a slight advantage over genjis that couldn’t use it. I’m going to call it a bug until the devs say otherwise.
Editted for some formatting, clarification and also to sound more respectful. I’m not trying to attack you at all, Just share my thoughts on superjump.
I think rez is the only part of her kit that doesn’t sit well with me 100%, however I respect the implementation of it to be rather fair.
Even though I play other heroes primarily, Mercy holds a special place in my heart due to the fact that I mained her when Overwatch first came out, and I praised her kit for being buttery smooth (very intuitive controls and short cool downs), so when they gave her rez a fixed 30 second cooldown it flew in the face of that fluidity I enjoyed so much.
But after awhile I’ve gotten used to it and think we have the best iteration of Mercy to date.
