She is not a must pick anymore. And even if she was, that does not change the fact that they nerfed her Rez into the ground, gave her a casting time and then slowed her speed in Valkyrie.
All things that had to be done.
She is still in every OWL game. She is still in pretty much every solo Q game I play. She is still the most picked hero.
She does too much and has zero risk.
Rez is NOT in the ground lol, itâs still a game changing ability with a 1.7 second cast time? I think thats pretty goodâŚ
Also her speed on valk doesnât matter when she just can fly to whoever shes healing.
Shes in almost every soloq game bc shes so easy and almost required at this point if you want solid healing for a low price. (Price being skill and mechanics prowess.)
it isnt.
its that, out of the possible healers, she is the msot consistent one.
you never know when a fight will go crazyâŚso a consistent healer will always be popular. they can easily adjust to a battle changing.
and 2 of the healers (lucio and moira) are restricted healers.
Lucio has to have his team grouped up and moira has a limit on healing and if it runs outâŚwell thats not gonna end well.
tell me again how rez has no risk. Iâll wait.
Because if you have half a brain cell you donât do it in a risky situation.
More often than not there is an angle to hold, a shield to stand behind or a lack of enemy to punish you for going for it.
If there isnât, you do this incredible thing called ânot being stupidâ
If you can master that ability, she can literally go about her business unpunished.
Risk as in its not a risk to have her on your team as compared to ana who is not always the best choice when mercy is usually just a no brainer to have on a team (Thats what i meant anyway.) Of course every hero has the risk of dying but the risk present from using rez for 1.7 seconds is well worth the game changing reward. And when the reward is THAT huge, is it even a risk at all? At that point like that other guy said, itâs just not being stupid and knowing when to do it. If youâre a competent player in any sense you know when to and when not to do something that may leave you vulnerable. Thats why you dont rez in the middle of an open field with no cover.
Mercyâs healing is fine and isnât whatâs making her too much of a must pick. Ana competed with Mercy back after her nerfs because Mercy didnât have any utility, all her utility was tied up in her ultimate. That was suppose to be one of Mercyâs weaknesses, was that she was the best healer, but she had no utility and couldnât heal while dealing damage, so healing was all she did well. Thatâs no longer the case and itâs causing problems for the rest of the support roster.
I still think Ana needs some work, but her healing output is fine, and for all the complaints, I donât think sheâs far from being balanced. We have 6 supports capable of healing now, and yet, Iâve been saying âMercy is the best choice hereâ for 3/4 games for the past 4-ish seasons despite Moira being reasonably balanced, and the roster making having 2 off healers be the team supports easier than ever.
Mercy being a viable choice most of the time is fine. But Mercy being the best choice 3/4 of the time shouldnât be the case. But it is, because Mercy has, if not the best utility where she previously had none, then in the top 3 for utility skills in the game. As long as you donât die while doing it, rez is never not useful. They took away one of her weaknesses when they reworked her, so now she has the best healing and some of the best utility. She really needs rez tied back into her ult even if they never want mass rez back. I mean, I love rez, but I canât think of any more nerfs to it in the utility slot that wouldnât either make the skill useless or make it feel even worse to use.
You boosted heal mains we let you have fun , the master race is leaving,
S11 META 6 HEALERS
I played a weird QP match a few weeks ago, it had 5 supports + sym, it was a good time.
Ana used to be better than Mercy at high tier play.
But then Ana was bludgeoned with the nerf bat and Mercy got her ridiculous rework that harshly lowered her skill ceiling and made her easy to master.
And if you get the like 2 seconds of animation you have to go through you GET TO RESSURECT SOMEONE meaning that a pick from ults are useless and the player will have to recharge their ult
So good even ryujehong doesnât use her! Lmao
Resurrect is 1.75 seconds + whatever travel time. Most reloads in the game are 1.5 seconds and human visual reaction time is ~.250 seconds. Meaning, if you pay attention to when players start to unload you can GA in, Rez, and GA out before they have a chance to kill you.
If there is the threat of a sniper, a Mercy can be shielded, bubbled, DMed, be body blocked, use LoS, etcâŚ
Unless a teammate dies behind enemy lines, there is a good chance they can be resurrected. And on maps like Hanamura (point A), there is 0 risk to resurrect someone whose been killed by spam.
The only time Iâve personally seen resurrect being risky is when another teammate needs healing immediately. Then itâs a bit of balancing between keep that person up and resurrecting the other person. As not to lose one to get one.
Resurrect can take a little bit to work consistently, but when itâs at that point itâs crazy good.
Because Balance.
Mercy is a snoozefest, easy to play, high rewards.
Meanwhile Zenyatta is inaccessible to lower elos or people starting the game, with HIGH RISK and HIGH Rewards.
Mercy is fine, resurrect as an ability isnât. Its a very powerful ability that you no longer have to earn. I do believe that Ana could use some changes but the utility that Mercy provides with Resurrect is enough to consider her over other healers (IMO).
