Mercy Sugar Plum Fair-YELLOW?!?!

Almost every legendary Mercy skin has different colored wings to coordinate with the skin.

  • Pink has (you guessed it) pink wings
  • Valkyrie has blue wings
  • Devil has red wings
  • Imp has purple wings
  • Combat Medic Ziegler has blue wings
  • Witch has darker yellow/orange wings

Even the Cobalt and Fortune epic skins has different colored wings!

THEN we get this amazing, stunning, fabulous, gorgeous, adorable new holiday skin Sugar Plum Fairy that we ALL love; and the wings are… classic-skin yellow?

Come on now. Not only does it hurt my eyes to look at, but besides the healing beam (does that even count?), there is no yellow on that skin.

Here is a wonderful example of what the devs could take inspiration from:

Not a huge fan of the skin, being honest, but yeah, those wings look like a jagged scar.

tbh i think if they went with a different color it would be dope, but I actually kinda like the contrast of yellow with the purple. It’s like a burst of heaven behind her. But then again, I’m generally pretty easy to please so…

It would look nice with a green. Or just copy paste the lighter yellow/white of the valk skin.

I think it plays well with the theatrics of the Blizzard World being holiday-ed! Sugar Plum Fairy character in a theme park decorated for the holidays makes sense. I love her staff design though

The yellow color makes it look unworthy of 3000 credit. A light turquoise / teal would be much better.

We talking with art degree girlfriend.

She mentioned that the yellow is very neutral, and balances out an otherwise overly “busy” character design.

There is honestly no yellow tint on the model to begin with. Yellow just looks out of place and strange.

Well, an art degree, and she went into video game design…so if not, pretty close to it.

Also with my limited knowledge, I looked up the color wheel, and yellow is the exact opposite contrast of purple.

That part I could agree with.

But what would be a color they could use that “falls into the background” when contrasted with her purple faux-wings?

I don’t think the glowing parts of her wings are supposed to fall into the background, especially in gameplay, when in valkyrie, more often people will see the glowing parts rather than the actual model.
If I had access to Photoshop now I’d test.

Well that’s the thing. I think the main issue her isn’t that it’s yellow.

It’s that it’s “default”.

They could probably go for a noticeably different hue of yellow, to remove that the “default” stigma.

It’s definitely a factor but not entirely so. The Zhuque skin (her lunar ner year one) had just yellow but it looked great nevertheless.

Well they could probably try going in the yellow-green lime direction, and keep heading towards green until it looks right.
