Seriously, it’s not much, and it would make Mercy so much more playable. I think it might be the small tactical advantage she needs to get herself back into being a more viable pick.
Agreed, I think it would make it a little harder to hit Mercy when she is rezzing especially since she is standing relatively still.
Nah she should be vulnerable while doing the res. Good team support enables more resses already, we don’t need to make it easier.
When did Mercy become anything other than super meta? Yeah she’s absolute garbage to play (and fight for that matter) but non-viable?
If you can’t hit a Mercy when she’s rezzing, that’s your fault. They need to make it where she doesn’t die every time she tries to rez. I can’t even rez anymore because people love to kill rezzing Mercies because they want to feel accomplished. They need to higher her skill cap.
I would rather see the cast time done away with. Resurrect doesn’t need such easy counterplay when it’s already so limited in its output by a 30 second cooldown and a single target. Without resetting Guardian Angel as it used to long ago, a dive into the enemy backline for a Resurrection would still leave Mercy vulnerable and likely dead before the resurrected ally could help her, which would then leave the resurrected ally vulnerable and likely a free kill.
A cast time doesn’t make Resurrect a skill check for the Mercy, all it does is make Mercy actually getting a Resurrect off dependent on the other 11 people in the game instead of her.

I like crouch spamming so I don’t mind it but that should not be your reason for the crouch inclusion.
I’ve been playing ever since game launch, and never stopped. If you’re going to try to discredit my input in this discussion, at least have the decency to make a tangible argument.
Instant Rez, especially on a 30 second cooldown, is an absolute nightmare. There’s no counterplay to it, hence the cast time. It was tried for a few months, it was hated by all (except for the Mercy cultists), and it was changed.
During that time period, Valkyrie giving Mercy additional resurrections on top of the base of 1 per 30 seconds was what made her overpowered, not the ability to resurrect a single target. At first, Mercy could resurrect up to 4 people in the space of 20 seconds by using Resurrect, then Valkyrie, then resurrecting three more times with the Valkyrie-improved 10 second cooldown in-between.
Resurrect as an ability on its own has never been the problem. It wasn’t even a problem when Resurrect was Mercy’s ultimate and it could bring back five people. It was only a problem, and Mercy was only a must-pick hero when Valkyrie enhanced the functionality of Resurrect.
I agree that instant rez is not good for the meta as it makes Mercy a must pick in all games. I’m just advocating for what I think is the smallest possible change you could make to Mercy in her current state without making her OP, which is rez crouching.
I don’t care about crouching, I just want to be able to cancel out of it.
Additional resurrections was a problem ON TOP of them being instant. There was no counterplay to it even back when it was an ult.
I would be fine with Mass Rez coming back IF they made it line of sight and kept its current cast time.
Actually, that change with Mass Res on ult and a shorter Valkyrie on E is the rework I really want for Mercy. A cast time with a 200hp area heal and resurrect at the end would be a great ult. But we’re going to have to agree to disagree on the subject of counterplay. In my opinion, the ability to punish Mercy for overextending and also kill a target after they are resurrected is counterplay enough.
But then all the Mercy players would be spamming crouch while rezzing…
But why? So you can crouch spam while Rezzing to further ensure a successful Rez?

“Further ensure”? What do you mean? Rez is probably the riskiest non-ultimate ability in the game, and it’s paired with the longest cooldown for any ability in the game. You need to have excellent coordination with your team to pull off the only thing that makes Mercy preferable over any other healer. If you fail, at worst you die, and at the least you have to wait another 30 seconds. Being able to crouch spam would make it at least slightly more reliable. And besides, what’s so hard about hitting a crouch spamming rezzing mercy? She’s not moving much because of her ability, so just aim at the lower part of her character model. All this change would do is make rez slightly better, that’s all.
Instead of fully changing her they should just decrease the amount of time on Valkyrie 5 seconds (From 15 to 10 seconds) and give her a special Resurrect which lasts the full duration of Valkyrie which will be an AOE Resurrect around her target upon casting. Which will bring back her presence and game-changing aspect everyone misses Mercy had.
I agree but limited to once per cast, she would look so derpy if she were to spam crouch…
