Mercy Self Heal Nerf

Pharmacy is still a problem for the lower leagues and is exceptionally punishing for people that have either just started playing the game or that are just not that good at it. Increasing how long it takes for the self heal to trigger would open more opportunities for low skill players to counter pharmacy while having a negligible impact on higher ranked games (since they also have the experience to protect their healers.

Nah she’s all g just let her do her thing

Her self heal initiates after 1 second, healing 20 HP per second until either damaged or fully healed. So if you play Tank, or Healer you’re punished as a result of your DPS not being able to suppress a pharmacy combo.

I would actually be okay with nerfing it slightly, but I would demand compensation in some other area.

Like a higher self heal rate? So instead of healing 20HP per second after 1 second she could heal something like 40 HP per second after 4 seconds. Making mercy have to be more careful in the middle of a fight while also giving her roughly the same survivability.

Why is it Mercy is always being punished for the tactic when it’s PHARMERCY. It takes two to tango. No one ever screams for adjustments to Pharah to dissuade people from going pharmercy.

You can’t balance the game around the low skill players just like you can’t balance it around the top percentage. Mercy is already squish outside of moth mode. Her health regen is fine. Tweak her damage boost and tweak Pharah’s boost ability.

Don’t just nerf Mercy’s health and think it’s gonna solve it.

Absolutely not, she used to have that for 3 seconds and she was almost unplayable because you will get poke damaged and have your regen interrupted.

Now, what I mean is make it 2 seconds (remember, this is 100% longer) and let us be able to toggle to a stronger single-target beam in Valkyrie (100 hp/s, 35% damage boost) and let her rez cast-time decrease to 1 second (in Valkyrie). Then I would agree to the change.

Mainly because a solo Pharah is roughly balanced and any tweaking on her would result in an under powered hero. Meanwhile mercy has a ton of survivability for a healer which makes her able to provide too much support to an air born pharah basically by the time pharah is healed up and ready to reengage mercy is too. This also has the con of causing mercy players to stick to pharah while ignoring the healing needs of their team.

its just a better version of zenyatta’s. Like literally the same thing except better numbers.

Can we stop nerfing Mercy? Pharahmercy is a combo of two chars, it`s not Mercys fault.

I thought 2 seconds at first but that just means mercy gets to fly up with pharah 1 second after she normally would, not a drastic change. To me Mercy should have as low a forgiveness towards bad positioning as other healers (Like zen which has the same HP as Mercy with less mobility).

Trust me on this, one added second would do a world of difference. It may not seem much, but it would make her a lot harder to play, especially when she’s out in the open and not hidden by cover (like when she’s pocketing Pharah).

Mercy also has a smaller hitbox, higher mobility, and stronger healing than Zen.

So we are trying to nerf her self-healing now?

Because Pharah on her own is pretty weak and at higher ranks has abysmal pickrates, not very different from heroes like DF or Reaper. Meanwhile Mercy is really strong at all levels of play and thrives with and without Pharah.

Trying to have a discussion on it at least, its worth considering since she enables one of the most challenging combos in the game to beat at lower tiers of play.

Ah, so because a character is so weak and can’t function without a support up their can–we’re gonna nerf the support. Makes sense.

Why not tweak Pharah’s mobility to make her more accessible to low skill, low rank DPS players but increase her damage to make her a more viable damage pick?

Thats the plight of tank and healer in any situation. If your dps can’t do their job, whether its shooting a Mercy, taking down a sniper, or keeping a Tracer off the backline, playing tank and support can be infuriating. However 4 seconds considering even splash damage could keep it from triggering is way too long. What good is 40 hps per second if it only ever kicks in if she actively leaves the battle field entirely? It wouldn’t be the same at all. Maybe it would be ‘easier’ for a team of people who couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn but an even halfway competent one would murder her. As someone said, that was exactly what happened when her self heal took longer previously. She died…a lot.

As for the ‘you can’t nerf pharah’ Mercy would suffer the same way. Her ability to survive sky rockets with an airborne guardian angel target but put her in a match with a 4 second window before her tick kicks in and no Pharah? Considering the amount of spam you have with people like Junkrat, Genji alt fire, Zarya, etc paired with fast moving, fast shooting backliners like Tracer, she’d be doomed. Right now I know if I can dodge a hit or two from a flanker or get around a corner, I’ll start healing. At 4 seconds, they’d run you down every time.

As much as I hate to say this, the answer here is aim better. You can’t nerf a character to tailor to the players you’re describing. You’d end up in a situation where they’d be miserable to play at that level and impractical at every other level seeing as any handicap like that to benefit the shooter would suddenly just be a bat to the knees when you’re facing people who can actually aim.

Hate to break it to you man, but Mercy is not the problem in this meta at all.

if mercy’s self heal is your problem then get anyhitscan. doesn’t require aim. even d.va can do it. 1dmg from a spray pellet can stop her self heal
