Mercy Resurrect Lore?

I have watched the Zero Hour Cinematic a few times as of late since I am excited for more news regarding Overwatch 2. When Mercy flies in and heals Mei using her hand, I wonder if this is Mercy channeling the nanobots from her Caduceus staff, or if this is the lore materialization of her resurrect from the game. If you look at Mercy in game she heals characters using a heal beam, and resurrects characters using her hand. Because she uses her hand to bring Mei back into the fight in the cinematic, I wonder if this is her, “resurrecting” Mei from a downed state. (She even says the resurrect voice line when she is healing Mei.)

Yes I know that in the game a character dies and turns into a soul, and Mercy brings them back and restores their body. I don’t think that this is something that feasibly would happen in a cinematic though. Since this is the case, I wonder if Mei being downed in the cinematic was in a sense synonymous with being dead in the game.

Since I am not 100% sure I am curious as to what you guys think. Did Mercy just heal Mei using her hand instead of her staff, or was this how Mercy, “resurrects” her allies in the lore?

Edited the Cinematic name

Mercy can’t resurrect anyone in the lore.

Resurrect is just a game thing. Like it is a game thing about Pharah having limited fuel and can move very limitedly while the comics/ short that she showed up (she showed up in her full glory on the one of the original cinematic trailer for the game back in 2016) she can fly at some ridiculous speed.

And yeah, her healing tech is Nanotech, and she really doesn’t like it when Ana modified the tech for her own purposes.

Didn’t mercy resurrect reaper and genji tho?

Mercy didn’t do anything to Reaper. Moira turn Reaper into the Smoky terrorist he is known to date.

As for Genji, she brought him back from the brink of death, not fully revert him back from death. After Hanzo “killed” Genji, OW managed to rescue Genji (or what’s left of him) and Mercy did her miracle by saving turning him into a cyborg.

Right, I know that there has never been an actual resurrection in the lore for her. That is why I was wondering if the Zero Hour clip of her bringing Mei back into the fight was the lore equivalent. Like what her resurrect actually does. Does that make sense? Like maybe in the game characters are just downed like Mei was, and for that 8 or so seconds she can still get them back up. Otherwise they actually die and respawn.
Just an idea haha

Mercy just craftily hides a uno reverse card in her hand while she resurrects people, there’s your explanation

That’s pretty good haha, I like it!

I mean, no one wants to acknowledge that Overwatch’s science department as constructed is led by a necromancer, and claimed an uplifted gorilla, a mass murderer, the woman who helped create the Omnics, and Moira.

Fair point! Moira seems to be versed in some necromancy herself if you take a look at Reaper . I don’t recall if it was ever confirmed in the lore or not though.
