To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Mercy. The mechanical skill is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the heals will go over a typical player’s head. There’s also Mercy’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterisation - her personal philosophy draws heavily from saving ppl idk, for instance. The Mercy mains understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of mechanical skill, to realize that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Mercy truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the skill in Mercy’s existencial catchphrase “Heroes never die,” which itself is a cryptic reference to An early repudiation of the same idea appears in a couplet translated by the Rev. E. Stokes at an unknown date and published in Henry Wellesley, Anthologia Polyglotta: A Selection of Versions in Various Languages, Chiefly from the Greek Anthology (1849):

And yes by the way, I DO have a Mercy tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
I just deliberately pick a weak Mercy support combo like Zen, LW or Lucio when someone insta locks Mercy. Not gonna be forced into a main healer hero just because someone wants to show off a skin.
the answer is not to nerf her. mercy has been in need of a buff for many seasons now, she has fallen behind the other supports.
