Generally you should be with a heavy/demoman/soldier/pyro though that should be able to cover for you, especially since they will have a max hp and healing advantage, than you play the corners or use your team mate as a shield.
Iâll definitely check it out when I have the time to.
True, but games often devolve into complete chaos. Explosions everywhere, both teammates and enemies are dropping like flies, Engineer desperately tries to keep his buildings intact through that, while your Spy reports about incoming uberchargeâŚfun times.
Those moments, when your teammates are dying on point, and you have to dodge and evade through raining rockets/bullets to reach them, otherwise point will be lost.
I usually played at max beam charge and with corners, so if it looked like we were starting to lose a fight I would bail as to preserve the uber charge as it wasnât worth losing it. About the only exception is when it was the final point/end of cart and it as either hope or lose.
The game taught me great triage abilities, I remember having a lot of fun trying to figure out how to keep everyone alive and above critical health thresholds, while also managing over heal and trying to also heal those that have retreated from battle so can heal them at 3x speed.
And Overwatch forced me to forget those triage abilities, as I no longer could maintain team in good shape on my own.
In TF2, pocketing was considered bad habit for Medic, as your power was multiplied, if you overheal everyone, and your ubercharge was earned faster too. If teammates arenât good enough for stock ubercharge, I used Quick-fix to overwhelm enemy with numbers - 100 hps in combat(300 hps out of combat) were enough to maintain whole âhordeâ of teammates, as we make a rush for objective.
I feel the triage in OW comes from risk of self vs reward of healing team mates lol. Half the time Iâm not picking who to heal because they are most valuable target, Iâm literally looking at how to best stay alive and than who ever is near/available get heals. While healing as medic is TF2 is triage, OW Mercy is about self preservation. Resurrect fits perfectly into this in that its high risk but high reward on her can I afford to make myself vulnerable or not?
You guys are kind of making me want to load up TF2.
Issue with âhigh rewardâ is that it relies on teammate to be good. It doesnât scale with your own efforts.
It doesnât matter, if you were resurrecting at relative safety of some corner, or you had to sneak through enemy team to do that, as it comes down only to âis teammate you bring back strong enough to make a differenceâ.
Its a great game, but to me I donât really go back as medic was by far my favorite class, and Mercy is TF2 medic except with super fun GA tech and a high octane resurrect move. I do really miss ubercharge though. Valkryie is just so superficially boring compared to the highs of Ubercharge. Hard to believe went from the only class with ultimates in TF2 to the least fun ultimate in OW.
Super jump resurrects are really fun once you can start pulling them off. Can make for much riskier rezes.
Question is, will resurrected teammate save the day, or just pointlessly die again.
Similar question you faced in TF2, when using your ubercharge - which teammate will make best use of it? This Soldier? Or maybe this Demoman? Or maybe even this PyroâŚoh wait, it was actually enemy Spy.
O god Iâve done that on accident a few times lol. I eventually trained myself to no longer ubercharge someone unless theyâve shot once no matter what.
I mean⌠Mercyâs flight is pretty great⌠but current Resurrect and Valkyrie havenât got anything on Ubercharge. Even together they donât.
Valkyrieâs chain beams are one of the least engaging things in the game and Resurrectâs slow and cast time were the exact wrong set of drawbacks to give it. Makes Mercyâs most impactful ability more dependent on literally everyone elseâs skill than hers as to whether it can even be used. Seriously⌠current Res feels like a chore.
Yeah it mostly depends on how much you love GA and GA tech. I almost always favor mobility exclusively in any game I play, so for me I love Mercy. But yeah ubercharge is 10 times better than Valkryie, heck if Blizzard said they are changing Valkryie to ubercharge I would be estatic.
Mobility is great, but it requires good reason for someone to hunt you. Otherwise you are just annoying, but harmless, fly.
Thatâs the most frustrating part about Mercy, and the crowning failure of Valkryie. A Valking Mercy is almost pointless to try and kill, but her overal effectiveness can be ignored with literally any ultimate, focus fire, or any one shot ability. I swear some times Iâm playing Mercy and it feels like with all the dodge duck dive dip and dodge Iâm doing, I out live everyone, but than I just die as everyone died and I was unable to do anything about it.
Yep.
During Mercyâs rework the Devs made the unfortunate mistake of giving Mercy so much more mobility that she became practically uncounterable. They werenât willing to go back on that⌠so⌠how do you balance something without a counter?
Make it too weak to matter.
Which basically sums up all my issues with Mercy as she currently is. Outside of baiting dumb enemies, nothing she does is big enough, fast enough, or anything enough to either save or carry a game. I like my choices and plays to matter⌠so⌠I honestly canât stand Mercy. The only times I played her post rework was when the rest of my team picked a team that I knew wouldnât be functional with any other healer.
This 100%
Just quality of life changes, no buffs or nerfs.
Yeah, sadly is already 60HPS, but end point is there are ways to do it.
i dont think it is, last time I checked it seemed like 60 HP/s to a single ally and 55 for chained.
