Mercy players, a question for you

With the current state of the community and the game, I don’t think there’s been a more polarizing figure than our beloved Dr. Zeigler for players so far into the game’s life and while this isn’t asking for a buff or a nerf because I don’t play her and I don’t want to interject my opinion into her kit because she does something I like or don’t like. I think it would be nice to speak to the people that do play her and get their opinions outside of that mega thread. Mostly for one question that matters most in a video game like this.

The question to Mercy players and please anyone else who has played her or used to play her even, when did she stop being fun for you as a player? If she’s not still fun anyway.

The reason I made this thread is not further any divide, but I am curious. mercy players know the character better than anyone in the community and given the current meta it seems mass rez would probably be the most dominant ult in the game when Mercy does the hiding strat.

225 and she is still fun to use. Much prefer 2.0 Mercy as she is more engaging than 1.0, only downside to 2.0 is the lackluster ult.

I still find Mercy fun, as her basic kit has remained fairly consistent that got me into this game. I play a lot of FPS games like Call of Duty and Battlefield, so what brought me into this game were unique characters like Mercy that had a more MOBA feel to them.

My reasoning was, if I wanted to play for the mechanical aim, then I wouldn’t be playing over-watch, there are better games out there that are more balanced around mechanical aim, even the characters that are dubbed “high skilled” in this game are easy compared to other shooters.

The one thing that I miss is having an impactful ult on Mercy, I feel like Valk is a great defensive ult to avoid ultimates like Genjii, riptire etc, but it doesn’t offer that feeling of swinging a fight.

I still find her a ton of fun and love playing her, however I’m getting kind of sick of playing her because of how over powered she still is. I feel ashamed to play her because despite the fact I’m also a really good Ana player I’m pretty much forced to play Mercy because of how dominant she is. I love Mercy and I want her to remain relevant, I just don’t want her to be the only healer that matters.

October 21st. That’s when I dropped Overwatch.

It wasn’t the valk nerfs that made her unfun imo, it was dive dying.

It was really fun to out position, juke and make everyone chasing you feel like an idiot when you baited 'em and got away.

Now it’s res snipers, hide behind barriers boost Dragonstrike. Yawn.

She was fun before her last nerf, mainly because she was overpowered. I enjoyed her with resurrect as her ultimate, it felt like you actually did something at one moment to win a fight. Now it’s kinda like ehh… I mean she bad, but Valk is laughable imo.
Side Note: If I were you I’d take the M word out of your title, don’t want this thrown into the megavoid.

honestly, I still find her valk ult quite good, I often activate my ult when the dive… well, dive in, and I can see from up above my team gaining the upper edge as I swing from heal to damage boost in rapid succession and change healing targets back and forth. Sure, her ult healing is no Transcendence, but it’s close to outheal a Death Blossom (yup, I saw a valk outheal pretty much 90% of Death Blossom once, the saving grace was the other healer helping). And we all know Transcendence is the only ability that can 100% outheal Soldier’s, Reaper’s, Hanzo’s ultimates.

I have stopped playing mercy in most cases.
Her rework was a failure, that they artificially had to cripple by slowing down rez because they made the stupid decision to make rez an ability in stead of part of her ult.

Another E, revision of massrez would have sufficed.

Let her EARN range,or EARN how many people she can rez as long as she stays long enough in the fight etc…

so many possible ways and they decided to go with free rez every 30 seconds
its bad design.

old mercy had her issues ,but she could shine once or twice a match

current mercy is just decent, nothing more, not heroic.

I think she’s gotten more fun with each patch, honestly. I do wish she didn’t have the ability to rez, but otherwise her skill ceiling has only gone up, which I enjoy very much.

She is fun, and feel ok to use, I didn’t play 1.0 because it’s boring and 2.0 because it’s broken. I do agree to some that say she bring too much for what she has to do but I would be content if she didn’t get any change.

She hasn’t stopped being fun, I mean we still have GA that’s actually been improved upon. I do miss those “moments of glory” where I did an important rez and in a hail of gold I helped turn everything around. I don’t really get the same rush, I can do a good Valk but I’m never really sure if it was that good or if it was more that my team played well. I just feel like the constant enabler, without any real moments of my own unless I pull out the pew-pew.

So in short, I do still have some fun with her and in some aspects she’s better, but I don’t quite love her like I used to. She’s just the best and most viable option.

i still think she’s super fun! as seen by my hours on her. i just love flying man

I still think she is pretty fun. I played her 1.0 version on Xbox and her 2.0 on PC. She definitely has more features in her 2.0 state than her 1.0 state. A couple of days ago I bought my first golden gun, which was her staff.

Now that the LFG will be here soon, I think Mercy mains will love it the most.

My opinion, I only play Mercy for my friends, not for strangers.

I stop playing Mercy because teammates are given to me with a roll of the dice.

She’s still fun. But since she’s not my favorite hero I need my “time off” from her here and there - this has been the case since I first joined OW. It’s not Mercy’s fault, it’s the fact that I have to play her a lot in comp and get burned out really quick.

I haven’t played much comp this season, I feel extra burned out atm :smirk:

The least fun I’ve ever had on Mercy was during moth-meta. I don’t find playing OP heroes fun, it just felt disgusting because I knew she was completely broken and I often had to fill as her. It was just terrible… and I refused to play a lot during that season due to her broken state. I don’t enjoy exploiting broken things in games :woman_shrugging:

Ever since her initial rework its been a downward slope, it felt less fun to play her even in her most broken state (outside of ptr) and the nerfs only made it worse for me I ended up branching off to other heroes (Found myself enjoying Symmetra Ana and Zenyatta) to try and find some fun but I couldnt escape “your a mercy main stop playing symm/ana/zen” or “we’re gonna lose cause mercy main decided to play ana/symm/zen” and that just made her fun factor go even lower because it ended up becoming a chore to play her at that point, I ended up making a smurf account so people couldnt point out my time on mercy so I could escape, I only recently came back to this account after her latest nerfs where I wouldnt get told to play her non stop

Before the rework I wouldn’t touch her with a 10 foot pole… after I’ve enjoyed playing her everytime

Since they went ahead with their rework that nobody asked for despite the fact that everyone told them it was a bad idea.
