After playing comp and jumping in between ranks on Mercy and other players, as well as playing in teams and solo, I’ve noticed contributions from Mercy are not valued as much. Regardless how many assists, how much healing, how little deaths you have the ranking system treats you like you haven’t done anything. For example, I was queueing with some friends that at the time were silvers, and I was gold after 7 straight wins or so they ended up in low plat, whereas I ended up going from gold (insert sub rank, to the next gold sub rank). I also had performed exceptionally well with things like 60 assists, 2 deaths when others had 10-14, 20k + healing. Supports that have high dps capabilities like Moira, Zen, Lucio (and others), climb ranks way easier and are valued more by the leaderboards/the game in teams of ranking up. Either the way support contributions is valued needs to change, or Mercy needs more work. She also is the one healer that depends the most on her team. Because at the end of the day, superjump was already there…
Her ultimate is worthless imo, yeah shes harder to kill but its a selfish tool for a character thats suppose to support the team.
Through what means exactly? Anywhere where people can track mid-GA she’s an easy target. GA = being stuck in a predictable flying animation basically asking to get killed. Mercy (just like Pharah/Echo) is forced to duck behind covers and break LoS at mid-higher tiers of play. It’s not Moira who can just fade away or Bap who can burst-heal or just jump to the high-ground.
Low-tiers? Sure, I guess so. But let’s please not balance around that, it leads to horrible hero design decisions.
if i have a mercy on my team i try to do the thank emote when they heal/damage boost/revive me but i know sometimes some supports are treated badly
Well yeah im agreeing she needs help. Her ultimate is worthless it does nothing and its a selfish tool on a large CD. That should just be a normal move she has. Delete the revive it has no place in this game. Maybe let her ultimate overheal by 75% of the targets HP (giving free max health during the ultimate time)
I thought it was her dmg boost stat that was important. Friend says she kept it at 60 / 40 dmg boost to heals and she skipped from dia 3 to masters 5.
If the stay was 50 50 most games she’d stay at the same rank.
Mercy needs another rework imo. She simply lacks any utility to her team besides dmg boost (which relies on your target to perform well). All she has otherwise is her mobility.
Low, single-target healing OR dmg boost, a somewhat less predictable GA, with the new “super jump” implementation but still predictable, and rez which, in OW2 is way easier to cancel as an enemy player, being that there is one less tank and steamrolling fights with a pick is a lot easier.
She does have insane movement options though. Watching high level supports like Aspen utilize her new movement to contest cart is wild.
The new ranking system has a plethora of issues atm so this doesn’t surprise me, but OW1 was similar. A friend of mine basically only played mercy and he would gain SR much slower than I would. That was also an overall problem with support as well but its now amplified in OW2 since mercy does nothing BUT heal
Because any other support is way better than she is, and most mercy mains don´t want to play mercy in the way she is supposed to be played: a pocket bot
Flying around, being a heal bot and sometimes ressurecting people might look cool for the one that plays mercy, but apart from rez, any other support is just better and more impactful. And if i may add, Mercy mains are the most annoying people i had to deal with in a videogame, close to genji mains
Her boosted damage should count as her own damage. People just tabbing in to see heals/dmg done see mercy with 0 and assume she’s useless.
I value her. She’s a more healing focused support but she’s good at it. Sure she has damage amplification and a weapon to use but when she swoops in and starts healing things up you get frustrated. The only time I’ve seen her look pathetic is when the WHOLE team focuses someone and she just can’t out heal the incoming damage, which isn’t a problem with her that’s just how it works. It’s even more annoying when she’s healing while fluttering about like a moth. Just land on a bug zapper already! lol
While her ultimate is comparatively weak to other Supports but if used at the correct time it can turn the tide of team fights.
The multi-target healing increase can help counter the enemy team’s pressure and some ultimates.
Her movement during valk makes resurrecting teammates far safer
You also get the choice to damage boost which can be insane paired with ally ultimates and pressure
It’s best to use Valk when your team is making a push or their team is. I wouldn’t call it selfish regardless of the increase to survivability. It is just another heavily team reliant tool in her kit. If nobody capitalizes on it… it’s useless. I suppose that’s Mercy in a nutshell.
I got to masters with mercy, I feel like I could go higher too, but masters is normally were I get pressured to even play. Doubt and meta and shir
If this is true, then why are there former pro DPS players on Twitter complaining about Mercy’s new “rubber-band” movement?
I both love and hate playing Mercy as my main.
I love playing her because I like being able to focus solely on healing and not so much damage like all the other support characters and help my team from the back instead of charging in with them in the front. I get Overwatch is a FPS game but some people like the role of healer and not running face first guns blazing. (Again aware this is a FPS game so don’t start with the “go somewhere else stuff”)
I hate her because with how people are (based on what I’ve observed) when a mercy is on their team and think they don’t have to heal at all and they can play dps the entire match.
I agree that they should rework her and give her more survivablity if she is only going to be primarily healing (minus the Glock) but also don’t agree that her ult is selfish. Saving the ult for a push with the team has won multiple games and can get the team out of tight spots where they are surrounded or multiple people need healing.
I try to play Mercy as much as possible right now in comp and I think the best way to play her is to not solo queue. Easier said than done but if you can find teammates who can aim and peel for you then I find I can get huge value out of her. And besides, it’s time she got some love from the dev team.
“Pro” players are worthless in the scope of balancing a game imo. IF valve balanced dota 2 purely on the international picks the game would stop being the highest payed esport. Valve has always done an excellent job at keeping the game fairly balanced. The last international almost every single hero was used throughout the entire tournament of a pool with 100+ characters
The argument I was responding to was that Mercy’s only hard to kill in low skill tiers. If that were the case, then pro players wouldn’t be complaining about her movement.
I average 70% damage boost/30% healing and jumped 4 divisions at a time
She goes very well with bastion. She’s fine.

Delete the revive it has no place in this game.
Rez is the ONLY thing in the game to REACTIVELY counter one shot snipers. A single pick from widow is instantly reversed because a Widow can’t body camp a backline kill. Only her team.
