Hi. Today we saw a little sneak peek of upcoming Mercy mythic weapon skin. I am extremely disappointed by their choice. WHY would u decide to do skin for her with straight forward theme which is “cute rainbow pixies” or whatever. They kept saying Mercy has a lot of cute skins and it will go with a lot of them. BUT in reality it will not go almost with any of them.
You know that people who play a lot of Mercy and buy her skin are usually like fashion and this skin will not go with ANY of her skins. (Maybe upcoming rainy duck skin and few her old. But Mercy has SO MANY skins it will not go.
Rein got cool looking skin that would go with anything.
Ana got AMAZING skin that would match ANY of her skins.
Ashe weapon is simple and cool at the same time that would go with anything.
Soldier skin has some specific details and story in his weapon skin but still it doesn’t bother that much.
But WHY Mercy is getting some dipsy girly cute staff for the kids? I DON’T UNDERSTAND.
So I went through every single Mercy skin and look how much they would match and found only few: Seolbim (only color wise) , plum fairy (still not really tho), Cat skin, Jingle bell skins (only because it might give holiday vibe), AND her upcoming Rainy day skin.
THAT’S IT.
Mercy mains LOVE fashion and this weapon will not match ANY skins. Just imagine if her staff was something like Ana’s skin it would go ABSOLUTELLY with any skin because it would look cool, expensive and without extremely straight forward theme.
Mercy is 37 years old woman with PHD in medicine and I’m confused why she turned into cutie pie teen girl.
Obviously its probably already late to change it. I’m sure its in development or its done. But I wish that you would look again into design and for example you would see that removing that pixie mouse would change A LOT and it would remove that unnecessary straight forward theme that doesn’t match her story and ANY of her skins. and maybe different colors choice.
I just wish Mercy was presented more as a strong powerful woman as she is.

This was gonna be the case for some vocal member of the Mercy Mafia regardless of what they did. Also you kinda gotta link an image of the sneak peak if you expect the average person to know what you’re talking about.

You do make a great point. Her mythic weapon doesnt really match Mercy except that its a “cute” little gun. They should have done an angelic-themed weapon.

I’m just confused as to why the weapon is separate from the skin that’s part of that season. I assume the magical girl skin for that season will have a matching weapon, why make a 2nd weapon for that season as well but it’s a mythic.

There is no greater flex than charging the enemy with flaming wings, raining 44. caliber death upon them from your sparkly pink pixie pistol, and finishing them by slamming the rainbow-colored butt of the thing into their skull, leaving nothing but a sticky red mess and a unicorn-shaped dent in their left parietal.

I have the exact same thought. I personally think its cringe. But seems peeps like middle age lady doing various cute cosplay here, so just let it be.

Yes, DokiWatch will probably drop a skin that’ll rock with it but I’m not really into needing to buy a new skin for the Mythic weapon to look good, ya know?

Skins are marketed toward the buyer, more so than being lore accurate to the hero.
Kind of an L take imo, feels more like I’m playing the “heal staff hero” than “Dr. Angela Ziegler” but at the end of the day, the optics comes down to what makes you happy.
Its not about choosing something that fits the characters story arc. Its more about creating a design that the mercy demographic would be appealed to and buy. It may look girly and stuff but my guess is that a lot of the players that play her are within a 15- 25 year old range and would thus want to purchase it. Remember they are trying to make money and thus try to hit the strongest demographic they see.
Makes me wonder if the Mercy main demographic is more for Japan, Korea and China then the US, Central & South America, Europe, Eastern Europe and Australia.
Asians prefer young girls like Kiriko and Juno. I was thinking the opposite.

Maybe the Devs want the Asian countries to main Mercy as well 
I too am excited for Juno’s Mythic! But i also feel guilty because she is getting hers so soon after her launch…
