I’ve been on the forums commenting and reading other opinions on what i’ve had to say in the topics comment sections and everyone who reply’s with a different point of view can’t seem to reply with something logical on why Mercy 2.0 is balanced and how Mercy’s original kit was anything other than annoying. I’m not saying i find Mercy 2.0 boring in anyway i personally enjoy it however you can’t tell me that her new kit is balanced after 10 nerfs and people still complaining that shes still op and why shes a must pick.
1. My logic behind why Mercy 2.0 does not work is because shes too good at everything. Mercy was originally designed to be a mobile single target healer that had to plan out her ult in a smart and careful way to counter a team kill and restart a fight. With her re-work they took that and added it on to her original kit and just made her god-like not an angel. Suddenly she could fly with unlimited ammo and pick that widow thats been giving you trouble all game while group healing the team and avoiding enemy players attacks by GA super fast while also pulling off that SICC REZZ. With her mobility with and without valk, single target healing and grouped healing when she ults, rez on a cooldown, and infinite ammo so she can pick off low enemies when she ults, it outshines the other supports. All of this it treads onto the other supports territory so why would you choose an Ana or Moria when Mercy can do what they can and more?
2. (Read this then read my edit at the bottom) They took her original concept and made her so powerful that to make her balanced you would have to make all her skills suck just to balance the fact that she basically has 2 ults. My solution is to go back to what worked Huge Rez it was annoying but it was balanced and it worked. I’m not talking about invincible rez though screw that. What i’m saying is re-work Mercy’s huge rez ult with a LOS mechanic, a short cast time i was thinking 1 second or 1.25 seconds, reducing her speed during cast time before she ults (By 50%-75%), and have a 5 meter rez distance for one soul (Also give her damage reduction so while rezing so Mercy have a chance to live i was thinking 25%-50%).
They just re-worked Rein’s ult why can’t they do the same to Mercy? Blizzard has been working with Overwatch for about 3 years making heroes i didn’t even know they were capable of making you would think they would know how to work they’re own program by now to make these things balanced for Mercy.
3. I understand how people think that Huge Rez was annoying but also is Reaper’s ult, Hanzo’s ult, and Mccree’s ult. You know what is similar with all of these ults? If your smart they can easily be countered. If you added a LOS mechanic to Mercy while having that small cast time you can easily counter her. Even if she does pull the rez off that doesn’t mean the Mercy will survive to provide for her team making your own team feed the other team for ult charge.
4. Adding this will make Mercy More strategic to play while not making her a must pick because of how risky her Huge Rez will be to pull off. Most importantly she won’t be able to do absolutely everything and tread onto other supports territory therefore not making her a must pick, while still keeping her own uniqueness and usefulness in her kit. !! EDIT/UPDATE FROM HERE DOWN !! So i was thinking about it and maybe invincible instant rez wasn’t bad its the fact that Mercy was able to fly to a dead soul and pull off a massive res.
2. My new suggestion is Mercy can have invincible instant rez but cant fly to dead teammates she would have to run to one of the souls that has the most valuable amount of LOS and have a maximum 5 or 8 meter rez distance (only problem i see with this is a small lack of mobility). This would make Mercy players come up with new ways to rez without being caught. The LOS mechanic could still show the souls but have the little icon that GA has but yellow showing who you can rez with your ult. I also didn’t mention but i think Mercy’s healing should be around 55 hps to where Winston has room to do damage but not kill teammates as quickly.
For example say its the first point and Mercy is coming back from spawn on the map Temple of Anubis. Most of her team dies on point she has 3 ways of trying to rez them, going through the main gate, jumping down from the building and pull off a falling rez, or going through the little stair case in the corner and sneaky rezing from there. This would make Mercy players have to think what the safest or fastest route is to save they’re team without being caught.
5. This is an alternative that i think is very well put together if you didn’t like any of my ideas
