Mercy isn't being used as a primary healer... Red flags, anyone?

Jeff calls Mercy one of the game’s primary healers…

…but Mercy cannot function as a primary healer. She has low base healing (by primary healer standards), and no way to increase it or provide burst heals. Even her ult only raises it by 10hp.

Mercy is very viable… But only as an off healer.

Since complaints about Mercy’s player experience being in the toilet won’t move anyone, how about pointing out that Mercy isn’t being used as blizzard intends her to be used? That sort of thing always gets them upset enough to make changes.

Mercy’s 50 hps isn’t enough for a tank heavy line up.
She’s still a main healer. She’s just not effective with tanks.

Just like how Ana isn’t effective with dps heroes as there is no peel, and burst healing is redundant in those comps. As well as a lack of tools to deal with chip damage.

Stop being such drama queens.
You’re not meant to play Mercy in every lineup.

Seeing as how she’s virtually only ever played with Zenyatta, I don’t fully understand what you mean. I really don’t understand why people try to sort healers into categories of “main healer” and “off healer” when they mean next to nothing in forming a working team composition.

Mercy struggle with 2 tank.
As Jeff himself said primary healer require some sort of burst heal ( I don’t count rez as burst heal bc you have long cast time).

I forgot she was a healer.

I just go Alita and use my pistol. Let Ana and Lucio or whomever heal. I’m here for the kill confirms.

Honestly, it’s too easy for her healing to be negated by damage. It feels like it’s better to use damage boost and only heal after a fight. 50 HPS was considered too low at launch, why the h3ll did they decide it was a good idea to put back after all this damage creep?

She is a primary healer, she’s just not very good at solo healing.

But then, nobody is great at solo healing except maybe Moira. Even she doesn’t want to do it, it’s just that she has the survivability and AoE healing throughput to pull it off.

Would you pair Mercy with an Ana, Moira or the upcoming Baptiste? Or would you rather partner her with a Lucio, Zenyatta or Brigitte?

Mercy and Moira, or Mercy and Ana. Sometimes with Zen but never alone or with the other supports.

It’s very hard to take advantage of half her utility if one plays her as primary healer.

I am gonna say this one more time. Mercy cannot sustain a 2/2/2. Idk if you are high masters or not but I am a plat player and I have never had more than 2 tanks in my life in my game, most of the times I have to fill the tank role myself that’s how desperate I’ve gotten for them. And Mercy cannot sustain such a comp without Ana or Moira backing her up. She + off healer is a bad combo even for a 2/2/2. We do not care about her viability in GOATs, we do not get to play that strat. Please just stop with this line of reasoning. Ana has a higher pickrate than her in Silver for all places, you think people that get team wiped with turret bombs and Bastion + Orisa are cycling defensive cooldowns and picking supports for utility and speed boost?

uuuh, she’s played solo healer in quad dps comps. And when it’s not a quad dps, she’s played with zen. She’s still quite good in bunker comps.
Also, try and play her as an off healer with ana or moira, then cry when a powerful ult comes and wipes your team.
Team saving ults are the dominion of off healers.

Then she is neither main nor off-healer. She combines their downsides - lack of defensive ult for main healer with insufficient healing of off-healer.

Basically, you need triple support in her case, or either off-healer would have to push their healing really hard, at expense of their utility, or main healer would have to deal with non-existent defensive ult.

And she’s still a main healer, her healing is still good and has the second best heals per match, just shy of moira (who does absolutely nothing but heals).

the thread says she’s played as an off healer, which is not true. She’s still played as a main healer.

Off-healers are more fun to play than a healbot like Moira. Mercy can do more than heal.

The numbers do not LIE… Mercy heals TOO much being an off-healer.

The average MERCY players put 11.176 healing per match is number is GROSSY broken for an off healer

Zeny is a true off-healer puting averages 7458
Brig is another off-healer doing 8634 averages
Ana is a MAIN-HEALER averaging 9739 while ask you for MECHANICALS and a more demanding gamesense than mercy cuz the character do not have mobility
Lucio having an AoE healing averages 9239 a lot less than Mercy…
Moira is the STRONGEST main healer of the game having 11 574 per match

Mercy averages are TOO dam high and i repeat the NUMBERS dont lie. Next time you will say your character is weak take 5 mins to compare her healing averages before of spam the forums

She is not good at healing large targets that are easy to hit and as a result take large amounts of damage.

There’s a reason why she excels in Hammond and dive comps, where tanks aren’t constantly face tanking the world.

You’re not supposed to keep people alive through indefinite amounts of damage, who would’ve thought.

I think it needs to be pointed out main healers do not have defensive ults. Zen and Lucio have defensive ults that make up for their lack of overall healing. Main healers ults usually are some form of initiation. Mercy has healing output of a main healer and an ult that functions as a big GO FIGHT button for your team.
